HOQUIAM, WA.---Merle LeRoy Girard, 51, a native Hoquiamite who lived here all his life, died Monday night, September 18, 1967 of a heart attack.
A 1934 graduate of Hoquiam High School, he was varsity football manager and a member of the band. He married Miss Vivian Smith in Hoquiam on November 23, 1940. He had worked as an electrician for Industrial Electric Company, Aberdeen, for the past 24 years. He was a foreman at the time of his death.
He was a member of the Hoquiam Eagles and the Electrical Worker's Union No. 76, Tacoma. His favorite benevolence was the Heart Fund.
Survivors include his wife at the family home; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Jacquelyn) Ryan of Vallejo, California and Deborah Girard of the family home; his mother, Mrs. Daisy Calvin , Hoquiam; three grandchildren, Jerry, Paul and Cathie, all of Vallejo; two sisters, Mrs. Hawtry (Leona) Williams and Mrs. Harold (Virginia) Wilson, both of Hoquiam; two brothers, J. Megler Girard of Aberdeen and John G. Girard of Olympia; three aunts, Mrs. Harriet McClary, Aberdeen and Mrs. Maude Parr and Mrs. Lena Girard both of Hoquiam.
