Notice: The completion of the new lafayette-tn.com site is going very slow since I am the only person that operates and updates the site. I do not know the site's completion date at this time. I was hoping that it would have been at the beginning of this year. Please be patient with the ongoing effort to finish the new site. Thank you, Michael Willis.

Welcome to Inside Lafayette, Tennessee, the first online guide exclusively for the Lafayette area. Lafayette, the county seat of Macon County, is located just sixty miles northeast of Nashville near the Tennessee-Kentucky border. The city and county were both established in 1842 from portions of Smith and Sumner Counties. Macon County was named in honor of Nathaniel Macon (1758-1837), a North Carolina Statesman, and Lafayette was named in honor of Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834), a famous French general who fought for American independence. Today, Lafayette is a small, progressive community just shy of 5,000 inhabitants. The area is well known for its scenic beauty and southern charm. The Lafayette and Macon County area has been a Governor's Three-Star Community since 1995. Lafayette is the hometown of Women's Basketball Hall of Famer, Nera White, 1998 Miss Tennessee, Amy Neely, and home of country music artist Jett Williams, daughter of the late Hank Williams, Sr. Whether you're looking for a place to live or taking a trip, give Lafayette a try. You'll be glad you did!!! So why not bring your family, bring your pet, and just come by and visit us in beautiful and scenic Lafayette!!!
