There is a new procedure for family file names at the Temple. Family file name cards will be given to patrons who wish to do the work for their ancestors. These names will no longer be kept at the Temple, they will be kept by the patrons. With these name cards you will be given a list of all the names that you submit to help you keep track of the ordinances performed. Friends and family members can still help perform ordinances just send them the card. The person that is proxy for each ordinance will be responsible for the card and retrieving the card after the ordinance is done.
When you attend the Temple, take the family name slips for the ordinances you intend to perform. An ordinance worker will record the ordinances and stamp the ordinance dates. Please make sure you have your family name slips with you after the ordinances are performed and before you leave the Temple. You may use these slips in any Temple in the United States, Canada or England. The change is designed to give you more control over the names you submit and permit you to do ordinances in any Temple.
Of course, names may still be submitted to the Temple if you desire to have the Temple arrange to have the work done. Indicate this preference on your disc at the appropriate prompt in the Temple Ready Program. The Temple staff will be happy to answer any questions.
