[Return
to Focus Areas]
1. Retention
& Reactivation - The most important areas of focus
as directed by President Hinckley.
- Retention - President
Hinckley: "When we finally get retention right,
baptisms will increase exponentially from the
300,000/year mark on which we have lingered" for the
past 10 years, despite a large increase in missionaries
serving. Our stake's retention rate is very good
(thank you!!), for the past 18 months 92% of those
baptized in our stake are still active - that is the
highest mark in the Oakland Mission, and the Oakland
Mission region is the highest in the North American West
Area!
- Reactivation
- Re-kindling the flame of testimony and the desire for active involvement is more difficult than retaining it, but every bit as important. To varying degrees, we all have times when we are "less actively" involved. The cure for each situation includes personal effort (daily study & prayer, etc.), but also support and fellowship with others who can help us feel good, and then regain and keep spiritual momentum and focus.
- Key Focus Areas- Please
continue reaching out though home teaching, visit
teaching, and being a friend to new, active, and less
active members.
If would like to share your experience and testimonial of returing to activity, please e-mail it to oaklandstake@oocities.com (we would prefer personal experiences).
