Okay this idea is a bit odd and should not be for the faint of heart.

Basicially, Belle is (or should be) considered royality in France by her marriage to the Prince. This takes place around late 1800's, I think. Around that time, France was in a state of civil strife; revolutions and coups and such. And a lot of royality and the French gentry left France and sought asylum in other places, like England, for example.

Now what if they did have a child (And this is where the "fuzzy Logic" part of me gets sucked in ;-), and that child happened to be named Wendy. Now, Wendy is definately different from her parents, IMO. That's probably means that either Wendy is addopted without her knowledge, or something happened and she considered her guardians to be her parents. I have heard stories about "Hunters" that sought out exiled royality and killed them. Sort of like assassain/bounty hunters; this might've explained the reason of such a charade on Wendy's behalf.

But back to the topic at hand.

According to some of the "Peter Pan" stories, Wendy married and had a daughter named Jane. As to other facts about her, I admit that I forgot. But it makes the theory a bit more interesting for me <G>

Now as to certain similarities about them, other then their compassionate personas and their high intelligence, they have displayed certain characterisitics that I think is also part of the "bloodlines", although some physical features have been "muddled" as often occured with offspring. Wendy's eyes and hair color are definatly lighter then Belle's; but with current theory that "recessive" genes coming back after two or even several generations, Jane's hair could've gotten it's darker tone either by the father's genes or the recessive genes that belonged to Belle. Which meant that it "skipped" over Wendy's genes. This might even explain other factors as well, her intelligence and desires for knowledge. Even though there is massive arguements over the "Genetic Memory" idea (That basic pyschological/emtional factors are part of the DNA sequence), this seems to be the best theory I can produce.
