Executive Summary

            The environmental protection agency has established a web-based interactive mapping tool.  This GIS allows the user to view and query environmental information.  This GIS has been named Enviromapper.

            The Enviromapper show basic environmental information to the public.  Superfund sites, Brownfields, hazardous waste sites and discharges to water can be viewed.  This information can be located on the national, regional, state, county or city level.  Enviromapper also provides major interstates, railroads and water bodies at each geographic level.

 concerned with the application is the amount of time from update to

 update.  Since Enviromapper is based on industrial reports, updates

 to the database are not often.  This may lead to misinterpretation of an

 area by the user.  By far, this GIS is an asset to the public interpreting

 environmental data.
