"Two Sparrows In A Hurrican"

Born July 31, 1981 in Healdton, Oklahoma. He was the youngest child with one sister and three brothers. His mother and sister wanted a girl. His sister even cried the day he was born.

The moment his mother held him in her arms, she forgot about wanting a girl. He was a beautiful healthy baby. The day he came home from the hospital, everyone fell in love with him.    He lived with his family in Ringling, OK. As a toddler, he would pose for pictures. There was a time we (his family)  thought he was missing. We called out his name but didn't get an  answer. We went to the neighbors houses asking if they had seen him. He was found looking at pictures behind a chair.  He use to line his hot wheel cars on the couch with the cushions in the floor. He would cry to go to school with the older kids. He was a larger boy and being the baby he got the nickname Bubba.   At the age of five,  we moved to Burneyville, OK. There he attended kindergarten at Turner Elementry. He liked going on dates with the older kids. Once he was riding around with Tim ( his oldest brother), a girl told Tim to take his son home. He became an uncle at age eight.   He grew up to be a very nice young man. He was on honor roll and awarded the designated three point shooter on his high school basketball team. At the age of sixteen,  his parents moved back to Ringling.  Although living in Ringling he still attended Turner High School. He either stayed with  his brother  that lived in Burneyville or drove from Ringling to Turner.  On July 10, 1998 he went out with some friends to Leon, OK. They were out having a great time when the driver of the truck lost control. Steven was thrown out the passenger side window and the truck landed on top of him. He died at the scene of the accident.  We were told later that the kids had been drinking. He was almost seventeen years old. He  would have been a Senior at Turner High School. He liked science and math.  He had seven nephews and two nieces.    Here's some memories that  we would like to share:

Tim (oldest) : Steven took a trip to Enid, OK.  with his parents to visit Tim. While there Tim had a flat tire.  Steven said "Let the big boy handle it." Then pushed Tim out of the way and changed the tire.

Doug (2nd oldest) : Thanksgiving Day 1997 Doug and Steven went to a Dallas Cowboy football game. Both are huge Cowboy fans. They got autographs from the cheerleaders.

Melissa (sis) : On my birthday Steven picked me up and swung me around. He then said "Happy birthday Sis." It really surprised me because boys usually can't keep up with things like that.

Daniel (baby before Bubba) : Daniel, Steven, an uncle and a few cousins went out on July 4, 1998. They were going to relatives houses to pop fireworks in their front yards. They would drive up to the houses and light the fireworks then drive off. Steven had such a great time, he said, "I can't wait to do it again next year."

Garlon (our dad) :  After Steven got his 1980 El Camino and drove it to school. He told the guys that  it was a truck. No one believed him so he had to prove it by taking his title to school. He loved the car, he even had an oogah horn on it that he loved to blow.

Reba (our mom) : The last time she was with Steven, he was kissing her on the cheek,  just showing her how much he loved her. He loved to aggravate. He would rub and kiss his uncles bald heads for good luck.

We all will remember him saying, "Do ya love me?"
The students told us he use to sing Hank Williams Jr. songs in class. As you can see he was one of a kind!!

We still love and miss you Steven!!

If you are planning on leaving, please don't forget to sign our guestbook. Thanks!!
