— The Bride Grieves —

The following letter was received by Hebrew Roots just after mailing the last issue:
“Last Thursday, January 14, my brother-in-law David Madsen was killed in an auto mobile accident while driving to work. He is survived by his wjfe Lori and (14 year old) daughter Ginni. Dave had little insurance so his place of employment has set up an account for Lori to defer some of the expense and to take care of some of her initial financial concerns. It is “The Dave Madsen Memorial Fund” account #0000179663 at Columbia Bank, 6202 Mount Tacoma Drive SW, Lakewood, WA 98499 (for bank transfer it is route #125108272) Ion if anyone would like their donation to be tax deductible, they can send it to CRMI at P0 Box 111, Auburn, WA 98071, and we will pass all contributions directly to the memorial fund.
If you could pass this information on, it would be much appreciated. Many very small contributions would make a tremendous difference.”
Gregory Richardson

We were privileged to meet this young family at the Ocean Shores Feast of Tabernacles this last October.
Our hearts go out to Lon and Ginni, and we pray that our Father in heaven will comfort and bless them in this time of great trial and need.

— News from Israel —

All of Israel is on hold until the
upcoming elections are decided. This time there are four major candidates; Binyamin Netanyahu of the Likud party (the incumbent), Ehud Barak of the Labor party (the other major party), Yitzhak Mordechai of the newly formed Center Party, and Ze’ev Begin of the United National Party.
Likud and United Naticnal are both right wing parties, while Labor is the party of the left. The Center Party claims to be in the middle of the road.
The poll results of March 17th show the following: Netanyahu 36%, Barak 36%, Mordechai 16% and Begin 6%. If these trends continue, it appears there will have to be a run off election of the two candidates receiving the most votes. Right now the polls show that Netanyahu would lose to either Barak or Mordechai in a head to head race. (Source: News Report from Jerusalem; forzion@netvision.net.il ).

— European Union to Recognize Palestinian State —

The European Union (EU) has issued a declaration stating their backing for a Palestinian State within the borders of Israel. They claim that Israel has no power to veto a such a state, and that a final solution must be reached within one year.
Israel condemns the declaration claiming that such an attempt to impose a solution endangers the state of Israel.
Meanwhile, the United States and her NATO allies have found themselves embroiled in a 600 year old war in the Balkans. The American media has not told the American people the Serbs side of the story, how they are trying to take back land that was taken from them by force by the Turkish Moslem invaders some six hundred years ago. Also not generally reported is the fact that many of the ‘ethnic Albanians’ that are the target of the Serbs wrath, have come to the region in just the last several years.
This is not to excuse the killing of innocent men, women and children that is currently taking place in Kosovo, but it does make one wonder if this is the setting of the stage for what seems inevitable in Israel.
Is it possible the next battleground will be to force Israel to accept the Palestiman State within their own borders, including Jerusalem as the capital city for such a state? We would not be surprised if Israel goes to war to stop the slicing up of their country, nor if the world’s armies congregate in the Valley of Meggido (Armageddon), in preparation for an assault on Jerusalem to force them to accept whatever the United Nations decides.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

~ Shalom ~
