Letter of Presentation of Hector Caraucan
My name
is Hector R. Caraucan D. and I am from Venezuela. I received my Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering on
May 1st of 1998 from the Universidad Politécnica “Antonio José de
Sucre” in Barquisimeto, State of Lara, Venezuela. (“Antonio José de Sucre” Poly-technical University). I was born in Caracas on the 13th
of June of 1969 and I am married to Alida Rodriguez, from Venezuela. She is an English Teacher. We have a 31 months baby girl whose name is
Marisabel Caraucan Rodriguez.
I speak Spanish and English. I
have some basic knowledge of French and I can read and maintain a conversation
in Portuguese.
Currently I am enrolled in the fifth quarter of the Specialization
Degree in Management of Networks and Telecommunications, which is an
Internet-online course and it is given by the Universidad “Yacambú”. I will complete the degree on October 2002
and the fact that it is distance learning, allows me to continue my course of
studies from any part of the world where I might reside.
Regarding my skills, I have the ability to reach decisions and learn
quickly, understanding any type of information in order to apply it in a
successful way, besides that I am a team player, leader, communicator, driven by
challenges and a hard working, enthusiastic, persistent, prudent, organized,
analytical, creative and sociable person.
In what has to do with my hobbies, I like to read self improvement books
and novels by Gabriel García Márquez. I
also enjoy reading about computers and technology. I practice football (soccer) and jog every chance I can. I love camping and enjoy very much the
opportunity to share time and experiences with my family and friends. When I was a boy I was a Boy Scout for four
years y and I joined the Camping Center (Club) while attending the
University. That is why I have always
been concerned about the preservation of the environment.
I want to work for one of the leading telecommunications companies in
the world because that would give me the opportunity to work with state of the
art technology, meet with the most competent professionals y give service to
the most prestigious and demanding clients in the world.
The expectations I have about the new job are getting a continuous
apprenticeship, developing my full potential, taking over great
responsibilities, demonstrating my initiative and showing my leadership driven
by challenges while contributing towards obtaining optimum solutions.
I have been working with Lucent Technologies since May 26th,
1999 as a Maintenance and Operations Engineer of Cell Sites in the CDMA project
of TELCEL-BELLSOUTH in Venezuela. I
have knowledge and experience with cellular telephony, in particular with CDMA
(Codel Division Multiple Access). The
following are among the things that I do:
I handle the following programming languages:
I have been abroad five times for training. The first time was in November 1997. At that time I was in training for a month in the USA while I was
working as a “Measuring While Drilling Engineer” with a North American company
called Baker Hughes Inteq. I received
training in instrumentation and measurements during the drilling of oil wells,
since the tools employed in those tasks are electronic. In that trip I was in Lafayette and New
Orleans in Louisiana and in Houston, Texas.
In January 2000 I went to Orlando, Florida in the USA for a week. I took a practical course in cellular
telephony, maintenance, troubleshooting and operation of Cell Sites in the
laboratories of Lucent Technologies.
Another trip was on February 2000 to Campinas, in Sao Paulo State,
Brazil. There I received training for a
week in cellular telephony, maintenance, troubleshooting and operation of Cell
Sites in the laboratories of Lucent Technologies. Besides Campinas, I also visited the city of Sao Paulo.
Later on I went back to the USA.
I visited the training center of Lucent Technologies in Orlando,
Florida. I attended a practical course
in maintenance, troubleshooting and operation of Flexent Modcell Cell Sites,
which will be used in the service of third generation cellular telephony
(voice, video and data).
In August 2001 I went to Sydney, NSW in Australia for a month. There I
attended to English for Academic Studies course in St Mark´s International
College.
I believe that working in groups is more gratifying and productive,
since that way the talent, creativity and experience of the persons involved is
combined. I think that individual talent
is important for the organizations, but I am sure that the most important thing
is the coordination of all that talent in achieving the goals. In the majority of cases I have worked in a
group fashion and I have seen the birth of many ideas and proposals that
optimize the functions to a level of maximum performance.
I believe I have some skills for leadership, since I have always been
known for my initiative, creativity, communication, professionalism,
coordination, responsibility and honesty.
The majority of the persons with whom I have worked trust me and accept
in many cases my advice. I love helping
people and being useful to the community.
In my years of College I joined the university’s fire brigade and I
received training in the prevention and extinction of fire, rescue operations,
first aid and industrial security among other things.
Since I was a child I have been able to express myself with ease. I enjoy having interesting conversations and
sharing diverse points of view.
I believe that one the most important skills of a good speaker is his o
her ability to listen. I verified this when I was working as a salesman during
my college year. I was an insurance
salesperson, sold medical equipment and automation and control equipment. Knowing when to listen allowed me to learn
about my clients’ needs, which in turn enabled me to make them the best
proposals which would solve and satisfy their needs.
With regard to my work, I have always maintained a very good
communication channel with my superiors, workmates and clients and I have
always tried to be understanding and open to diverse ideas. I respect other persons’ opinions and I
accept suggestions and advice.
One of my favorite topics is geography.
I always read or watch documentaries about traveling and about
traditions of other people and countries.
I would like to visit all the countries of the world, as I believe that
we always have a lot to learn from other cultures and civilizations. Until now I have known and spent time with
people from most of the rest of the world and the experience has been
enlightening for me.
I can work anywhere and with almost any type of person. I can adapt quickly to new situations and I
try to be proactive in order to try to turn problems into an opportunity. I always try to enjoy everything I do,
specially work, as in that manner I can keep myself motivated and I achieve
high productivity.
I can start working as soon as your company wants to hire me. I have no problems with regard to
moving. I am available as soon as I am
needed.
Thank you,
Hector Caraucan
