Math 135 – Summer 2003

Course Description:  Prerequisite: “C” or better in MTH 103 or equivalent, or 2 units of high school algebra and an approved score on a departmental placement test.  Contents include the study of linear and quadratic equations, inequalities and their applications; polynomial, rational, exponential and logarithmic functions; and systems of equations.

 

Grading:  Homework/Quizzes:  100 pts.

                                         Tests:   300 pts.

                               Final Exam:   100 pts.

                                         Total:   500  pts.

 

90%-100%  A,      80%-89%  B,    70%-79%  C,    60%-69%  D

 

 

Homework:  Guidelines for homework and quizzes.

1)      Pencil only.  Use your eraser – no “scribble outs.”

2)      Show all work.  An answer without supporting work gets no credit.

3)      Work must match answer.

4)      Be neat and organized.  If I can’t read it, I won’t grade it.

5)      Use two columns at the most, and leave space between them.

6)      In the top right-hand corner, put your name and the date assigned.  Use first and last name.

 

Tests:  There will be three major tests and a final.  The dates of the tests will depend on how fast we can cover the material.  Calculators may be used on certain tests.  There will be times when a calculator may not be used.  A comprehensive final exam will be given.
