| When a student is first sent to Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry, almost immedietly they are sorted into one of four houses by the Hogwarts Sorting Hat. Each house competes every year for the House and Quidditch Cups. Every student is awarded indiviual points for academic excellence, helpfullness etc., and these points are tallied at the end of each year and the winning house will recieve the House Cup. The Quidditch Cup is awarded to the House who wins the Grand Final Quidditch match. Whichever house the student is in determines where he/she sleeps, has classes and sits at the breakfast, lunch and dinner tables.
