Ron was brought up in the loving, warm, but muddled family home of the pure-blood magical family of the Weasleys. Unlike Harry or Hermione, Ron has known about his magical abilities and the magical world since the day he was born. Overshadowed by his older brother's achievements, Ron's goal in life is to be known for his achievements, and not those of others.
Teased by he and Harry's arch enemy Draco Malfoy for being 'poor' and 'muggle-loving', Ron meets Harry on the first day of their first year at Hogwarts, when Harry asks Ron's mother just how to get onto the mysterious 'Platform nine and three quarters'. On the train to Hogwarts, Ron and Harry share a compartment on the school train, the Hogwarts Express, and begin a fast friendship.
With Harry and Hermione by his side, Ron offers his puzzle-solving abilies and brave nature to play a major part in all their adventures.
