The most feared Dark Wizard of all time, Lord Voldemort reigned through fear for many years in the magical world. This evil, cruel man killed and tortured thousands of magical people, to make himself more powerful and more 'respected'. The magical people dubbed the time when Lord Voldemort reigned the 'Dark Years', and many feared the end of his terror would never come.
But on one night, Lord Voldemort attempted to kill the magical family of the Potters - Lily, James and their baby son Harry. James was the first to be murdered - trying to protect his wife and his young son, and then Lily was also killed, leaving baby Harry in Lord Voldemort's mercy - a death sentence. But Harry could not be killed for he had been protected by something so pure and true - his mother's love - that Voldemort's evil powers could not destroy Harry. After this, Voldemort's power was lost, and he went into hiding, a hideous, powerless wreck of his former self. The Dark Years ended, and everywhere it was known that a small boy - the baby wizard Harry Potter - had been responsible for his demise.
Since that night, Lord Voldemort has never been seen or heard from again. His 'faithful' followers ( wizards and witches that helped him continue his reign of terror) have claimed they were hypnotised, and no action taken against them. But no-one knows where Lord Voldemort is, and if or when he will return.
