Callings

And I never really sleep anymore and I always get these crazy dreams and I never get a minute of peace and I gotta wonder what it means.

He looked at the blade he held in his hands. He had been having dreams, strange dreams about her. Why couldn't he get her out of his mind?
She was always there in his thoughts. Ever elusive and haunting him, calling to him from the edge of his vision.
He let out a growl and grasped his sword too tightly, drawing blood.
It pooled on his blade a bright contrase to his shinning, well-kept, katana blade. He looked down at it emotionlessly.
How had this happened? The dream they shared the night she touched his mind with her own. Still it all seemed like the feather of a long forgotten dream.
"Sara," he whispered her name as though he could summon up the spirit of the woman.
Cleaning his blade he sighed softly to himself. How could he go on like this? How could he dare even think that she would dull and fade from his memory?
She was now as much a part of him as his own being was.

"Sara," Lisa said hugging her, "your back."
Sara smiled down at Lisa. zzthe young girl was holding onto her waist and smiling up at her.
Surprised at the innocents still in the young girls eyes after all she had been through. Sara herself had been through a lot as well with all that had happened since her time in suspension.
He flittered at the edge of her mind and she smiled as she rembered him. The vivid picture of him soaked through and giving her that intense look.Than in his English accent whispering ,"You are far from safe." She gained a far away look.
"Sara, hey Sara. Are you okay?" Lisa asked shaking her.
Sara looked surprised. "Hmm what?" she asked in a state of confusion.
"I asked you what you did while you were gone..." the young girl said giving her friend a worried look.
"Oh that," Sara said absently. "I went on a trip and worked on my tan " she added with a grin.
Lisa watched as her friend walked away thinking something was distracting her. "Be careful Sara." she called after her.

Ian strood to the door of his building and walked out. He had no idea where he was going or what he was doing. He just needed to get out and get some fresh air.
Sara found herself walking through the park again. The roses were still in bloom but would not be for much longer. She rembered a time here where she had been jumped by Ian Nottingham wanting to talk to her.
She looked over at the arch and almost expected to see him there. Ian Nottingham, the man who had tried to kill her, than protected her, than pulled her ass out of the fire.
"You are still a mystery to me Ian " she thought to herself.
"And you dear girl are often in my thoughts."
The quiet voice came from behind her and she turned quickly. Ian stood before her holding out a rose with something that resembled a smile on his face.
"Ian...I..." she began but he held his hand up.
"No Sara," he said shaking his head. "Don't say anything yet we have to talk. That is quiet understood but not now and not here." He motioned to the park around him.
Sara looked away. " I understand," she said grudgeingly and of late she had began to develop a understanding for the dark haired katana weilder.
"Prehaps I could offer to buy you a cup of tea?" he asked softly his eyes not meeting hers.
He's asking me out on a date her heart skipped a beat. *Hmm... I wonder why I feel so giddy. I am no longer a school girl and I do not get this way over men* she scolded herself.
"Sure, " she said in a even voice, taking the arm he offered her.
The entered a small tea shop called The Steaming Teapot.  He took a seat near the back of the room. She followed him. He ordered his tea and let Sara make her own order. Than when the waiteress left and he looked into Sara's eyes.
"You have been haunting me " he almost accussed her looking iritable, "and you are in most of my dreams now. At least at the edge of them."

Sara blushed she had never been outright told she was in anyone's dreams. "What... I am not doing it on purpose I rarely rember my dreams anymore," she answered with a shrug, her amber brown eyes darking as she looked at him. "Since I met you and Mr.Irons all I have had is grief!" she hissed tring to keep her temper in check. "I didn't ask for it but I understand it now." She stood and moved as though to leave.
Ian slid quicker than she could see and pulled her back into the seat."Miss Pezzini, Sara, please," he said. "Let us talk. I see that in my own way I am affecting you" He touched the neck of her dark clothing with the banded colar.
Sara sank back into the seat and listened as he spoke to her. He shared some of the dreams. He had told her that he never quiet enjoyed working for Irons, that he was repaying his servitutde to him yet would not go into details about it.
"Sara you and I both know I am no Saint... but I care for you a great deal," he managed to say. "I would like to get to know you better." His gray eyes shined
The part of her she sometimes hated screamed at her. He tried to kill you. Are you going to date him when he will get close to you discover your vulnerabilitys and maybe hurt you again?
She closed her eyes only opening them again when Ian's warm hand touched hers. "I understand that voice in your head Sara. It may not be all wrong but I will not harm you if I can help it," he promised brushing his hand across her cheek. "I would die for you if need be," he added in a ronew so low she heard it only in her mind soft and gentle. Not at all like the impossing voice if the Witchblade.
"We can try," she added with a smile. "I think we might be able to make a go of it."
Ian smiled at her. Hadn't he always wanted just a family ? Well now he had his chance again.
There were things about him Sara would never know most likely, but he would love her no less and he would try and help her understand the Witchblade, the thing that was making her life hard.
Then maybe they would achieve more... prehaps there was always that.
The two ate in silence but it was a comfortable silience that promised of things to come and mourned things that had gone on.
As they left the resturant Sara looked up at the tall, dark haired man holding the door for her. Prehaps all he need was a chance. Things aren't often always what they seem and they would have at least one chance to be together.
He winked at her as though reading her thoughts. "Hmmm chance are all that we have isn't it?" he asked as they continued to the street. "They are what we set our dreams and hopes upon and often that is all that is need." His arm slipped around Sara's shouldersas they continued down the street.
A rainbow burst through the clouds and the sunset was glorious. They watched it and realized no matter what happened there were always going to be choice to be made and it was bigger than any man or woman. The way was just paved a lot easier with help from friends and loved ones.
