Being in a contractual relationship with a Dominant will not always be easy, but it should always have a degree of positivity. Above all, you should find that you enjoy at least some aspect of your situation. Even if you are suffering miserably, crying from exhaustion and humiliation, aching from the impossible position you are made to maintain, some part of your inner spirit should be singing with joy! A basic kernel of truth deep down in your heart should be making you very glad you are exactly where you are, and loving each terrible, agonizing moment.
There is always occasional doubt, which should deffinately be explored. Proccess what you can, and be aware of your feelings.
If you are completely miserable in your very soul, you may not belong in the particular situation you are in, and you might want to protect yourself from possible emotional harm.

At times before, during and even after your entrance into the world of contracted slavery, and BDSM in general, you will wonder about the sanity of your choice to serve. Maybe even question if you are truly capable of giving this much of yourself to an Owner. Don't fret. We all question ourselves at some time or another. But try not to let your fears frighten you away from what you desire most.

Your relationship with your Owner may not always be blissful and romantic. It can take many forms, including disciplinary and strict, gentle, or even severe at times. That is one of the mysteries of the Master/slave relationship. As personalities go, you may find yourself molding your interests a bit to accomodate those of the one you serve.

It is important as a slave to try and keep at least some part of yourself well-grounded while playing in scenes. Even at the most intense moments, when a slave is journeying through the wonderful worlds of subspace, it is important to keep the alert alarm on active.
  It is entirely possible that both partners during a particularly intense scene will find themselves in an emotional vortex, where the rest of the world simply fades into the background. The only potential problem is that if both partners are experiencing this state of euphoria, then who's minding the store, so to speak. Take care of you.

Limits are designed to protect you from situations that may be harmful to you physically, emotionally, morally, or even spiritually. A limit may be imposed by the slave or the Owner, depending on who has that particular concern. Some limits may be tested, but it is not rare to find one or two that cannot. This should not stop your relationship if the lines of communication are left open. As a contracted slave it is the responsibility of your Owner to use sanity and safety during particular scenes, however, if it is you that feels unsafe about the scene and what is being done to you, be responsible to yourself and say something to your Owner.
