Hello my name is Helen Berrington and I am from Liverpool, UK... I am 27 years old, my birthday is 16th March 1981. I live at home with my mum, dad and brother, Andrew (25). We also live with an 12 year old Chihuahua called Amokachi (Amo to his friends!!) who thinks he's king of the castle (!!) and a 4 year old Papillon called Hunter. From 2003 to 2004, I was on the STEPS programme with Knowsley Council, and was working full time as a General Teaching Assistant (or Classroom Assistant) in my local primary school until 16th July 2004. My contract came to an end and unfortunately the school didn't have enough in their budget to take me on themselves. I absolutely loved my job and I know that this is the career that I want. I studied for the Classroom Assistant's qualification from September 2002 until September 2004. I completed Level 1 in March 2003 and completed Level 2 in September 2004. I started my Teacher Training at Edge Hill College in September 2005. From October 2004 to February 2005, I was working in an After School Club at the very same school that I left in July 2004!!!! It wasn't really the job I wanted but at least it paid the bills. The job ended because the lady whose absence I was covering came back. During the summer of 2005, I worked as a Customer Advisor at Marks and Spencer (a famous department store here in the UK). That's just a posh way of saying Sales Assistant!! It was only until the 3rd September but that's OK, I'm not looking for a future in the Retail industry anyway. It was just something to give me a little extra money until the schools are back from the summer break. I'm now currently working as a Teaching Assistant again and I'm really enjoying it. My future goals are: to become a Primary School teacher, marriage, family, travel the world a bit (not all of it, just certain countries), and to meet David Bowie!! Well, that's me. If I've missed out anything about myself that you'd like to know about (keep it clean!! hehe) then feel free to e-mail me.
