China III - In The Desert

Day 7 - Zhongwhei

Our first taste of the desert, Sand Toboggans, Death Slides and Sheepskin rafts.
At Shapatou "scenic spot" (aka Blackpool by the Yellow River.)

Our Tour Leader tries to run away,
Bye Bye Steve
Sheepskin rafting-
Take 12 dead sheep, turn them inside out,
tie them to a bamboo trellis and sit on
top of the result.

Days 7 - 10 In the Tengger Desert

Camels, sand, more Camels, more very pretty sand dunes. Sand in your lunch. Pretty sand dunes in the afternoon light.
Ill camels. More dunes. Leaving camels behind in the desert. Camp. Sand in your dinner. Beer. Sand in your sleeping bags.
Tent collapses in the middle of the night. Wake up. More camels, more sand dunes.

All great fun really, but the sand gets EVERYWHERE!
