Simitar Trophy Rules
Simitar Trophy 7 Cell Electric
There are no restrictions on the model except that it must be propelled by an electric motor which is powered by 7 or less nicad cells, nominal voltage 8.4 volts.
The total time to be aloft is 5minutes (300 seconds). Points are deducted at 1 per second that the flight is over or under the 5 minutes, and also 1 point that the motor is run during the flight.
Points are awarded for landing near a designated spot.
30 points are awarded if the nose of the model is within 15 meters of the spot.
15 points are awarded if the noise of the model is between 15 and 30 meters of the landing spot.
No landing points are given if the flight time exceeds 330 seconds or the nose of the model is more than 30 meters from the designated landing spot.
The motor must be running at the time of launch.
Depending on the number of entrants in the event, there can be more than one flight line running at any one time.
The time keeper will have two stop watches and one will time the total flight time, and the other timing of the engine run. Each time the engine is started the timer must start the stop watch and stop it as the engine stop’s.
The contest director will supervise and record all time and distance of all flights. They will also call the next pilot when their time to fly.
The draw to fly will be conducted at random, if a clash in frequency occurs then a swap in position then can be done.
The winner is determined by the total number of points amassed over the number of rounds flown. The worst round will be dropped before adding the total points.
Simitar ARF Scale
No score given for static. Judged on Flying manoeuvers only.

Simitar Trophy Reno
The race is run over a time of 3 minutes between two pylons approximately 180 meters apart. Models do not have to go around the pylon, simply go past the pylon before turning. The CD will call the start and finish of the race. Before the race starts each model will be held up to show the cut judges both sides of the model so that they can determine the model they will be watching for cuts. There should be, if numbers permit, a cut judge for each model.
The event is usually run over 2 or 3 qualifying heats with the top four flyers going into the final. The total number of laps completed, minus cuts, in the heats determines the starters in the final. The final result is determined by the laps completed, minus cuts, in the final only.
The start will be flagged off at one second intervals between aircraft, to minimize collision on take-off.
A re-start is declared if one or more of the models do not reach the first pylon due to either engine failure or a crash.
Juniors only may have a caller, all other pilots must estimate their turning points.
Each pilot will have a lap counter to count laps that have been completed between the start and the 3 minute signal. Un-competed laps don’t count. The first lap starts as the model passes the start line after take off. At each pylon there will be a cut judge and if a model does not pass in line with the pylon it will be recorded as a cut, and one lap deducted for each cut, from the total laps.
Motors are to be a standard variety of up to “46” size, side exhaust with a standard muffler, no tuned mufflers or tuned pipes allowed. The normal retail price of the motor to not exceed the RRP of an OS 46 FX (Allows OS, ASP, SC, Magnum, Super Tiger etc.)
China Clipper type model are permitted. The maximum performance of an aircraft is to be of that of the China Clipper model. All models must have at least two main wheels.
Simitar Aerobatic Trophy

This schedule has been used to offer a challenge to competitors to raise their standard of flying.
Standard method of scoring will be used.
The schedule is:

Immelman Turn.
Trim Pass. (under review )
Slow Roll. (under review)
