Synopsis for the Etaouri Gebhan Ghazim (Fellowship of the Rebels of the Delta) Flage Adventures: Turns 1-25

The party introduces themelves to Tiron.

Tiron studies the group quietly while, then replies with the same ritual greeting to each.

"Brother Akalim's spirit flows with the Dao" he replies.

That is until he gets to Keryth, with slight nod from Tiron, robed and cowled brothers come up behind Keryth.

"No , I do not think you are Keryth, although you inhabit his body. Keryth is dead and so now are you."

A glowing crystaline shaft is thrust through Keryth, ripping through his chest and piercing his heart. For a moment the image of a Three-eyed green skinned, single horned, knobby skinned demon is visible as a spectral image through which Keryth is still visbile. The body collapses to the floor and is carried away by the brothers. This is the party's first encounter with a Iuz infiltrator.

Ganthanor explains the party's history and goals. When Ganthanor mentions sanctuary, Tyron incants quietly for a few seconds, making small, quick gestures with his hands, then looks over the group cautiously, his gaze coming to rest on each in turn. "Only evil beings are denied sanctuary here" he says after a few moments. "Come, you are welcome."

Tiron leads Ganthanor and the others through the temple complex, down a flight of stairs and along a tunnel he introduce the party to Elorit, recently of the ranks of the Triad. She brought the brotherhood some valuable information about three infiltrators who had wormed their way into their ranks, something the brethren thought impossible. One of the infiltrators even managed to become Ya'valim. He was Tiron's immediate predecessor. Tiron was only in the position for three weeks.

Andreos learns from the brethren that it is time for him to leave the party and return to Ebla to recreate his noble order. The rest of party joined by Elorit and Tiron set out toward Flage. About halfway to the city, the rest of the party travels through a small wood. Into the wood they spot a clearing, where an unnatural twilight has settled. In the gloom they can make out that a warrior on the slope of a hillside his back against a tree is being beset by a force of about eight humanoids two spans taller than a normal man. Their hides and sinew are like twisted wood, their noses long and pointed, their eyes beast-like, they could only be swamp trolls.

A horse that likely was the mount of the warrior lies on the ground dying, being rended by some of the trolls. It writhes in agony. No sound however can be heard from the supernal gloom of the clearing. Behind the melee, floating about ten feet in the air is a black clad mage of unusual and disturbing countenance. His skin is the alibaster of a statue. His lip pulled back reveal fangs like those of a wolf. His hands are extended in theatrical gestures as if he was a puppetmaster and the trolls his puppets. The party comes to the rescue of the warrior, slaying several of the trolls who turn out to be kobolds under an enchantment. The remnants of this force and the mage who is probably some sort of rogue necromancer whose evil magics have drawn him closer to the world of the undead in which he wallows. The warrior they rescued, was a paladin of Pallas, named Kendric.

After the battle, a a robust Moor in flowing and expensive robes, steps from the woods. He had perhaps been watching the battle. He walks forward with a confident gate and a disarming smile.

The moor explains his presence: "I had detected his presence in the area, and had come to investigate his activities, but I seem to have arrived to late. That have confounded his purposes is all for the best. Still it is unfortunate that he escaped. He is not on my list of suspects, which perturbs me to no end. In fact he appeared to be originally Kiresh, which also is distressing, for until now I knew of only two Kiresh who dabble in Necromantic arts."

Then with a graceful bow, and the most gentile gesticulations of the salaam he introduces himself " Es salam alekum, I am B'aal-Nafa ibn kozief al-Kozief known generally as Al-Khozief . I am the ambassador of the Sultan of Fashir to the city of Flage and to whatever semblance of government they have today, yesterday it was the High Council of Flage, who knows what I shall find today, (with a whisper) may the Gods be willing it isn't the Triad, or my stay in Flage may be cut precipitously short"

While introductions are being made, another creature approaches the part., shorter than a Kyprosi, it is a forest gnome, a magical being said to appear before persons involved in epic adventures or quests. The little creature introduces itself as Sharill. It explains that down the road a mile toward Flage they will encounter a bounty-hunter and his prisoner. Both will prove valuable allies, and he urges the party to persuade the bounty hunter to free the mage rather than deliver him into the hands of the Triad, who are secretly behind the mage's abduction. The party is then to persuade the bounty hunter and the mage to join the fellowship. With that the little gnome vanishes.

The party travels on and encounters an overturned wagon. Over the rise the group spies the half-fleshed carcasses of two humans, a man and a woman. Squatting over the bodies like scavengers are four children ranging in age from about 5 to 12. Blood and gore stains their faces in a grotesque oval around their mouths. When the party approaches all, but one of these demons in human guise vanish

The remaining demon taunts the party "The pesky interlopers trouble us again. You have recruited some new allies to replace those we killed in the Temple of the Elementals. However despite your efforts, a Iuz host is loose on your world. Soon allies will join us, and the your world will be returned to the glory of ages back, when the greater races held dominion over the material dimension and were not exiled to the dark places between the stars. Yzarn, Slaad, Balrogi,Glabrezu,Bilwhr, Aisharpa, Vrock!!! These are names your world will come to know well! We shall feed on your world and suck the marrow from its bones. Your cities will become necropoli and your villages slave corrals! Enjoy the twilight of your world brave fools, for everything you love and cherish will soon be cast away!" with that he vanishes.

Ganthanor explains the properties of the Iuz that they had encountered and that had been taught to them by Theyaste Kelaine. He explains how he and others from the old fellowship and fought, been captured by and escaped from these demons. Elorit begins to suspect that the Iuz are involved in some of the strange occurrences involving the Triad, and perhaps involved in the mysterious ritual that the Triad was preparing for.

The party continues on and encounters the bounty hunter Ahimaaz and the mage Nika and persuade them to join the party. Ahimaaz does not like being played for a fool, and once he is convinced that the Triad may behind his hiring, he agrees to accompany the party and find out the truth of the matter, releasing Nika. He wants to learn from the Draper who ostensively hired him, who was really behind the contract, and he plans to use some ungentle persuasion.

The party heads down the road and begins to encounter much traffic heading to and from the city. Eventually they find themselves in the vicinity of a large village that seems more of a vast encampment than a permanent settlement. It is littered with wagons and vast pavilion tents. The population are all halflings dressed in colorful and elaborate costume.

The air if filled with laughter and music. The city of Flage towers above the encampment, a city of thick high walls, elegant towers and spires. From the citadel strange new towers can be seen, foreboding edifices wrapped in coils of decorative serpents. Dire clouds hang above the citadel of the city and seems to cast a certain gloom over the entire metropolis, the aura ending just beyond the boundaries of the Kyprosia. To the east of the village, the raised fields known as the "floating gardens" are clearly visible, a network of canals and luscious vegetation many of it indeed flowering.

Tiron notes: "Here in the Kyprosia we should be able to procure the documents we need, there are some excellent forgers here. Skooter may be the best individual to get the documents, we need as the troupes here will be more forthcoming to the requests of their own kind. Yonder gate leads to the portion of the city dominated by the Triad, we may wish to enter by another gate."

Skooter skips out to procure garments and papers while the bulk of the party samples some of the delicacies and fine wines for sale in the Kyprosia. Kendric shows no interest in such earthly pleasures, his eyes focused on the dark cloud and the upper section of the ziggurat of Pallas clearly visible beneath the dark billowing clouds.

Thus disguised part of the party pass through the Northern or Wyvern Gate. Their papers are examined thoroughly by guards with the bodies of humans and the heads of wolves. These Ahimaaz recognizes as Lupions. Creatures of the Triad, they typically have only been spotted at night on loathsome missions for the Triad. That they are now guarding a gate to the city is an ominous development. The creatures sniff Nika and Ahimaaz and speak amongst themselves in an odd patois. After a minute they seem satisfied and wave them through. As they pass through the gate they notice above and to the right a black robed mage with his face half covered by a cowl, but as he turns his head to study all those entering and leaving through the gate, the bounty hunter and the moon conjurer notice sunken cheeks and a face so haggard it almost seems to belong to a corpse rather than a man.

Ganthanor, Kendric, and Kersh meanwhile skirt around to the west of the city to enter into the Western or Lion Gate. They encounter no difficulties, and are asked a series of mundane questions. The Guards wear the uniforms of the Kiresh Knights. "Where are you arriving from, heading to, staying." The guards however seem oblivious to the answers they are given and repeat the questions to the next group as if by rote.

Kendric, Ganthanor, Kersh, Tiron, al-Kozief, Elorit, Skooter, and Syrinen head down a broad avenue known as the Boulevard of the Cherry Blossoms. This great avenue runs from the Western of Lion Gate to the Tanner's Gate. The group rendezvous at a point in the road by the citadel beneath the great fortress tower known as the Dunjon. Nika and Ahimaaz have headed south on a grand thoroughfare known as Market Street until they reached the Boulevard of the Cherry Blossoms. The group reassembled, Ahimaaz gives directions to the Drapers establishment.

Ahimaaz and Nika set off ahead, with the rest following somewhat behind as backup. Nika allows himself to appear to be bound, pretending to still be the prisoner of the bounty-hunter. Ahimaaz and Nika arrive at the Draper's shop. He gets a few strange looks along the way bearing a prisoner the way he does, but no one says anything or takes any actions to interfere. The Draper is in the shop he is showing an elderly woman some silks.

Several of the party members sneak into the back room of the shop while the bounty hunter keeps the proprietor occupied. They discover clues that the Draper is not completely human, but rather a demon inhabiting a human host. A battle ensues and suddenly the Draper opens his mouth as if to scream and pouring out of his mouth is a swarm of black moths that immediately begin to form into a large humanoid shape. Suddenly taking shape is a great demonic creature. It is 12' tall and has a huge muscular body and a pair of bat-like wings of great size. It has bull-like horns on its head and bat like ears extruding from faces of such malignancy as to invoke horror in even the bravest warrior. I myself nearly voided my bowels and bladder on the mere sight of these diabolical beasts. The horrid visages are marked primarily by a great pair of fangs like the fabled saber-tooth cats of the Utsu Jungles.

With great effort the party vanquish the Pit Fiend before it can manifest its full powers, and find that the human host is still alive, and they help the poor unfortunate who was chosen to be victimized by the demon because of his hostility toward the Triad and his efforts to prevent their infiltration into the guilds.

Next the party sets off for the ziggurat of Pallas where Kendric has a mission. Arriving at the ziggurat, they become aware of something amiss there. They also learn that the High Priest and his paladins have left the ziggurat on a mission, and that the ranking cleric left behind, the Theologue Balazandrios is not the faithful servitor of Pallas that he pretends to be. Syrninen attentive to the balance of the place and a powerful spirit in great pain, urges the party to leave the ziggurat while they still can.

Quickly assimilating Syrinen's news, Ganthanor begins a slow circuit around to each of his companions, stating to each; "The Theologue and others here have been compromised by the Triad in some manner. If thee have any truth spells or such, it would help us immensely to discover the exact source and nature of our collective danger." Stopping just short of Kendric and the theologue, Ganthanor waits until their dialogue is complete before warning his valiant companion.

Syrinen is taken aside by a cowled figure who turns out to be an Ishandeshee who confirms her fears that the Ziggurat has been compromised. The party meets Trishani, who turns out to be a useful contact and ally in the city. Trishani tells Syrinen to tellher friends not to provoke at confrontation at this time, rather it would be more prudent to mobilize the loyal forces of the goddess scattered about outside the temple before making a bid to recapture the holy place. The party accepts this plan. They retire to Trishani's shop to plan their next move. The party decides that the only way to assault targets in the Triad controlled citadel is through the sewers, and decide they need to explore and secure such routes. They also decide to make contacts with the Kiresh knights, who will prove important allies against the Triad. The party makes contact with Lord Ravelarz, a member of the Kiresh knights, who promises to set up a meeting with someone who has the ear of the ledership of the Knights.

Sharill returns and provides the party with some important information about what is going on in the city. He explains that there is an ancient evil under the city of Fel Gador, whose consciousness is beginning to awaken after a long slumber. Even in its deepest dream state, the influence of the this fiendish ancient God was a corrupting influence spreading tendrils of mischief across the continent and the marshlands of the Eastern Delta into a place of darkness and terror. The Uruk Hai , or Orcs, serve a demon lord who is a manifestation of this greater darkness. He tells them of an Old One, a "Rhalyune Gharlunch", a being the Elves call the Titans. This being whose very names when spoken will he warns will cause a shiver of fear in their spines, is called Taleth-Krun.

He then explains that while Fel Gador is built over the tomb of Taleth-Krun, Flage is built over that of an Elder God. Thus the conspiracies of the Iuz to control this city are done with sinister purpose far beyond that of merely the control of the surface real estate. The Goddess Pallas herself was formed of the essence of this Elder God , and the city takes its name for one of the ancient names of this primordial power. He then relates to the party some of the ancient history of the world, specifically the times when the Old Ones had stirred previously. Sharill then vanishes again.

The party with the addition of an elf friend of Trishani, named Hadlas, and a warrior friend of Elorit's named Jenna, the party travels down into the sewers The party encounters some undead rats, and then a skeletal warrior, but the next menace that faces them is less tangible in form. The tunnel suddenly grow very chilly, such that the party members can see their own breath form clouds in the cold. From behind them and the two side passages, their can be heard a cacophony of sound. Terrible whisperings in a score or more of different languages. Horrible secrets hinted at in the murmurs, terrible promises, threats and warnings. Hackles are raised on the backs of the necks of the various party members as an overwhelming sense of horror, evil and danger floods over them like crashing waves. Down the tunnel from which they recently came and to the left and right passages a strange billowing grey mist can be seen spreading toward the party, evidently the source of the dread whispering. Leading the body of the mists are three tendrils of the threatening fog-each in the form of a giant grasping hand.

Elorit's hand flies to her throat in fear. "I have read about such mists, they are the product of Greater Necromancy, conjurations forbidden by the most sacred tenets of the Three Orders of Necromancers. This is the work of a rogue necromancer or necromancers. I do not know how to combat such magics. I suggest we flee."

The party attempts to flee the mists, but they run into problems, and Elorit attempts to magically slow the progression of the mist. She is killed, as is Hadlas and Ahimaaz who attempt to help her. The party discovers a necromancer who may have summoned the mists and who has entrapped an elvish female mage. The mage is freed, but she goes invisible and follows the party. The mage Kasim is forced into the sewers only to encounter the party battling the evil necromancer. He comes to their assistance and Kasim ahasbeen drawn into the orbit of the party, ever since.

The party (except Kersh who is off meeting with Sir Zajik of the Kiresh Knights) proceeds on and encounters their ratmen friends. One of the Ratmen leads the group through a zig-zag of tunnels. The group seems to be travelling downwards. "We are in the Hale of Motok" he explains after a while. We will be safe from attack by minions of the Triad now. They have been penetrating deep into our outer territories of late, but they do not dare come within the hale. Within a few minutes the party is led to what appears to be an ancient ziggurat buried in a great sinkhole. The building has been refurbished but it is in a style of the ancient days of the Pharaohs decorated with iconography and demiurges of the ancient past. However to be buried such, it must date to even more ancient times, and it dawns on the group that the ancient iconography of the pharaonic times was itself an imitation of more ancient civilizations.

You are led to the audience chamber of the High Priest, Jhorinbaral who is in discussion with what appears to be an inordinately tall Ishandeshee warrioress. She must stand six feet tall. She is beautiful in the way of the elves, and her complexion lacks the slight greenish tint of the Sea-Elves. She also lacks the webbing between her fingers. Syrinen identifies her as a Snow-Elf, although she had thought them legend. Thus the party is introduced to Amberlie. Jhorinabaral explains to the party about the Triad's planned ritual of ascension, and how they can help block it. The invisible Sheela is discovered and their is a bit of tension for awhile, but it is settled by Jhorinbaral who informs the group that Sheela is not pure Ishandeshee but partly human and of the lineages of Stavos and Miklos, and thus important to their quest.

Sheela explains her mission in Flage. It is to recover the Book of the North which contains a long forgotten spell... a spell which has the power of making a dream come true. The Northern Council ruled out the use of the Book until an extreme circumstance showed up. You see, no mind could be trusted when it came to casting such powerful magic which restructures life according to ONLY the caster's thoughts." With a much more solemn tone Sheela adds "Now the Book is stolen and the secret is in evil hands. It MUST be recovered and the balance MUST be restored. I'm a transmuter of an order descendent of the Restorers and I've stated enough about my goals. I don't care how you'd like to see it, but as long as you cooperate with me on my cause there is no reason for you not to feel I'm not cooperating with you."

Jhorinbaral gives the party clues as to the location of the other surviving members of the lineage (Ganthanor being one) whom the Triad needs as sacrifices for their ritual. He explains that they also need the pineal glands of elemental mages. The Ratmen have located ten of the twelve members of the lineages of Miklos and Stavos. He provides the party with the prophetic clues as to the location of the eleventh and twelfth individuals.

In the house of fire, on the street of melted stone
Listen carefully to what the scarred mute one tells
Molded clay burns and Golden sparks are blown
Seven secrets smartly hidden in the old bronze bells

The last of the lines of which you seek
can be found hidden among the meek
From noble lines to humbled hovel fall
seek her at the place where scarlet raven call

Syrinen considers the strange words as she listens to Sheela, then she answers, "The first sounds like a foundry perhaps. Ganthanor, is there a street on which these are located?

Ganthanor nods, there is a street of metalworkers who deal in copper, bronze and starstone.

Syrinen smiles and continues: "Then it sounds as if we have to look closely at some old bronze bells and look for a scarred mute there. As for the second, it sounds as if the unknown persons are hiding in the slums. Scarlet Raven...hmmm, could that be the name of an inn?"

Jhorinbaral explains that there IS an inn known as the Scarlet Raven, but it has proved a dead end in terms of further tracing of the prophecy. It was named after a legend of a mysterious woman with raven black hair and fiery red eyes wearing a cloak of scarlet tinged black feathers. She warned the folk of the Labyrinth that the city was in danger by attack of enchanted crayfish-men from the river, and that only the hands of women and men of low virtue could penetrate the protective enchantments of the crustacean warriors. Thus the Herald of Pallas led the whores, pimps, cutpurses and knaves-those the wizards of the craymen thought least likely to come to the defense of the city-to victory. After the battle, the herald known as the Scarlet Raven turned into a flock of ravens, their feathers spotted with the red-brown blood of the Labyrithines and the scarlet ooze of the Craymen. They feasted on the dead, and then flew away. Jhorinbaral later explains that the actual site of the battle was at the River, to the south of the city walls and not in the area now known as the Labyrinth

Jhorinbaral volunteers to provide a guide through the sewer tunnels to any location in the city you wish to go to, be it the Scarlet Raven Inn, the river front districts of the Kiresh knights, or the the street of the smiths. Since Kersh is in the river front district, the party decides to head there first before heading to the foundries.

Before they leave, Jhorinbaral issues another prophesy. "The ravens circle by the River, the hierophant of Marduk lies in peril. Humans with the masks of demons, demons with the masks of humans, before you reach the street of the smiths, you shall find battle in the crooked alleys of the river front, the first of seven battles."

The party arrives in the riverfront district, and find Kersh just as a terrible fight breaks out in the Tavern, one in which Sir Zajik is turned to stone and many other tavern patrons are killed. The adversaries seem to have the power to take possession of ordinary patrons ofthe bar using them to wreak havoc. The party notices there is a strange congregation of cats around the Inn during the battle but does not know what to make of it. The party rescues Kersh and many of the patrons, forcing the assailants to flee. The party returns to Trishani's shop to recover

The party travels on to the Street of the Metal workers. During their travels, Amberlie becomes briefly separated from the group, realizing this the party looks around and discovers the Snow Elf has been ambushed, and decapitated, her head taken by some demon agent of the Triad who wanted her pineal gland. Inside Amberlie they discover a sentient parasite who is dying, the only way to save this creature which they learn is benign, is for it to enter a new host. Kendric volunteers and becomes merged with the Ufrai: Illyander . The party then discovers that the foundry of Tariq the bellmaker is the best match of to the prophesy. There they discover seven golden keys and the scarred boy Charos, who the party takes with them to bring to the Brethren of the Zelyanar. It is on the way to the Abbey that the party encounters the Fellowship of the Demonstone engaged in a battle. The two groups form the United Fellowship.
