1965 Plymouth Barracuda

Engine Build-up

Some of the pictures are large files. This is so I can see the detail when I start to put everything back into place.

(Taken 4/7/00)
The engine is a 273 with a 4 bbl carb, part of the Commando V8 package.
This is the engine before we got started. The leaves and some fiberglass was removed before I took this picture.

The start of the clean up. The intake manifold has been cleaned and repainted with HEMI orange. The valve covers were painted with black crinkle paint. Old oil has been removed from most of the top of the engine.

Last night we rebuilt the Carter 4 bbl carburetor.

It's slowly starting to look like an engine.

I just got a new set of 302 heads from a 85 318 car and a new cam(340 I believe).

Tried to remove the engine, but the engine had other plans. After removing most of the bolts to the exhaust manifolds, we tried to remove the bolts to the collectors. One out of 4 came out. Originally the engine was going to stay in the car, but I found out that I need to drop the oil pan and replace the oil pick-up and screen. I'm figuring I can drop the pan, replace the pick-up, replace the crank seals, and paint it while it is out. I'm going to try again in a few weeks.
