In the art of dance, Drama and music, Bharata Natya shastra, an encyclopaedia on drama, music and many other subjects, composed according to scholars about the second century BC "There is no wisdom, nor knowledge ; no art nor craft; no device nor action that is note to be found in natya", says the guru Bharata. And in ancient India, Natya included dance, drama and music. Bharata having composed the first drama, went to seek the help of Shiva for the steps of dance . Perhaps even today there exists no book on the dance, drama, and music more complete than Bharata's Natya Shastra Another treatise, which dancers use today, is book called the Abhinaya Darpana, or the 'Mirror of Gestures', by Nandikeshvara . A dancer in India takes seven Years and more to study the art. Not only is the actual practice necessary but so much of the symbolism within each story has to be comprehended.
