Day 0
Hanging out for the
"last" time, saying goodbyes and not really realizing that it was our
last day in San Francisco...

Last X-Files Party
Day 1
We left SF at around 7 in the morning.
We stopped at Yosemite for a peek at the waterfalls. We then realized
that one of the passes on highway 120 was closed and we had to go
around via Fresno.
Along highway 99 we passed through Selma, the raisin capital of the
world. Unfortunately there was no time to stop...
On highway 15 we came across the world's tallest thermometer which told
us that at 7:30 PM it was still 97 degrees.
We witnessed a beautiful orange full moon peeking over the far off
hills of the desert.
We got to Vegas at 8:30, checked-in, had dinner, saw a whole bunch of
glittery stuff and went to bed.

Day 2
We learned that Vegas is not the
easiest place to find your way out of. We think they made it that way on
purpose. After driving around for about an hour, we found the highway and
we were off.
Our first stop of the day was the Hoover Dam (boooooring says Jo).
Next, it was off to the Grand Canyon. What can we say? It was a canyon and boy
was it grand! Words cannot do it justice so we'll leave it at that.
After leaving the park and after some convincing from Jo, it was decided that
offroading on an Indian reservation was not the best idea...
Our final stop for Tuesday was Flagstaff.

Day 3
Things today did not really go as planned...
Our first stop was the Meteor Crater in Arizona. About 50,000 years ago, a 150 foot meteor slammed into the earth leaving a giant hole 550
feet deep and 2.4 miles in circumference. It's a pretty hard thing to imagine if you've never seen it before, so here's a picture. Where's
Bruce Willis when you need him?
On our way to Albuquerque, we saw a cool desert lightning display. We stopped there only long enough to eat and fill up the car.
As we drive to Roswell, there was a whole lot of nothing to see, followed by a bunch of emptiness. About 4 hours of emptiness, to be
exact. The only interesting thing we saw were these short, green hitch hikers with big heads and eyes a few miles outside of Roswell. People
in New Mexico are pretty strange looking...
We say things really didn't go as planned because we missed out on seeing Sedona and Santa Fe. Unfortunately, there was just no
time.

Day 4
On our last day of traveling, we left Roswell and went to Carlsbad
Caverns. Fred and Jo spent about two hours 750 feet underground in one
of the largest limestone caverns in the world - I got to sit in a
Kennel while they had fun...
After that, there was pretty much nothing all the way to Dallas. We're
staying at a hotel for a couple of nights (the movers should be here on
Saturday).
