Nations Cup 1998
Dance
Shae-Lynn and Victor....
someone on FSW reviewed it with the words
"Christopher Dean is a genius" and left it at that, and I'm inclined to
agree. This is a great dance, and I can't wait to see it at Helsinki! Sahe
did have a little slip....you know at that bit in the middle where the
music has pauses in it, and they're at centre ice and they do 3 poses and
hold them for a couple seconds each? (that sounds SO technical doesn't it?
<g>) Anyway, it was in the third one of those, where Shae has one foot
extended, she's almost in a sit spin position, with Victor holding onto her
arm. Her foot just slipped slightly and she had to put her right hand down
to keep her from literally sitting down, but it was very minor. If that's
what the judges deducted for, my only comment is "eek" Not sure I like the
costumes much, but I'm sure they'll grow on me. I love this dance.
As for K&O....where do I begin?
RIght. Think a cheap knock-off of the Duchesnays' Savage Rites routine and
you just about have it. In my opinion, and mine only (rant coming, delete
if necessary) it is sloppy, some of the moves weren't in unison, there are
moves there that I know I saw in Carmen and don't belong here, and they
finished out of time with the music. And speaking of the music, it's dire.
It's literally drums, but when I think of drums, I think of something like
Elvis' "Lion" routine, or "Bonzo's Montreaux" not this. There's none of the
passion and intensity that I'd usually look for in here, I thought they
skated through the music rather than to it. It should be more together by
the next time they do it, but personally I think that B&K were far better.
And whoever said that Anjelika is still making faces, sorry but it's true!
