No back on her dress...just lines....black body and red tassles on the
skirt...S&C are singing her praises....he's got a lined tshirt on and black
trousers, and a chain mail effect thing on top....Alexandros.....steps...in
time with the music so far...using her flexibility well...into first dance
spin, her lying back in almost a layback position...if they're twizzles, the
synch was off....steps along the diagonal...lift...drop down to carry where
he's on inside spreadeagle...me like...lift with her arm aroudn his
neck...moving into him holding her while in shoot the duvk...wow! we lose
the picture during a dance spin...lift when we come back and she's doing
the splits....the music changes and speeds....again not with the synch on
the twizzles....and he catches an edge there and stumbles got it back well
though.....antoerh spinny lift...lots of each other going under the others
arms wrapped around each other here....very close together, really
hard...lift where he's in a standing besti squat.....and they're done, right
on with the music.....Simon can't believe that she's only 16 and sees great
things in their future...the Renaissance of American ice dancing...his
words, not mine.....Chris says she is to die for out there....that was
great...really innovative in places...for a first worlds, it was

Nice terracotta and black costumes...much illusion fabric in flames on her
front...lots of wispy taily things on both of them...I like this dress
although it's nicer from the back...taking their time...Desert Rose...I love
this song....little steps...dance spin to start...him holding her free leg
her leaning away from him...lift with him in inside besti squat...turn up
the music!...lif t where he turns her over....and the music is turned up
they heard me!...lmove where she's kneeling on him....dance steps around in
a circle...right in time wit hthe music...brtual cut....another dance spin
her in camel..very slow spin I might add....mad out of synch on those
twizzles...another spinny lift....lift where she leans on his
shoulder....more steps with more movement of hands than feet.....as they
move into a remix of the song...steps....afain with the loss of synch on the
steps...and a bad edit in the song....another lift....lift where she's jumps
on him...spins...into dance spin.......and they're done. Right. The first
half of the music was great....then they killed it. Bad edits there...Chris
says that it needed a change, a bit of light and shade and I must
agree...there were no nuances in the music to do the highlights too...I must
agree....and there was technique there but they kinda lost it a little...not
enough light and shade to show it off. Genrich Stretenski coaches them...and
Lukanin is married to the 99 world junior champion whose name I refuse to
butcher even if I could repeat what Simon just said!

Enigma Beyond the Invisible and TNT for the brain....ok, his costume is TNT
for MY brain! Its a one piece velour thing...mottley blue splodges of colour
all over it...eeew! Her dress is pale blue and floaty and not bad at
all...which is to be expected because his is bad enough for both of
them.....on second thought, she looks like she's skating in a nighty....she
slithers around his back...dance spin where theyre in camels...and change to
others...very good spin chris says....lift with him in besti squat and her
lying across him ....another lift...all changes of position and she coujld
lose about a foot of chiffon from that dress it's too long...dance
spin....lift...music changes..s/s steps....not bad synch but not
great...lots of bending and twisting....nice interesting steps....music goes
to shrieky soprano with a backbeat....daigonal dance steps....more twizzles
again not good but not great....lift....that was a niceone, her almost
balanced against his chest...,more steps and they're done......not bad at
all....they had a nice flow about them, but it looked ungainly in places
,where you could see them working hard. Chris reminds us of how difficult it
was and how much he loved the beginning of it....and I'm amazed that dress
hasn't caused an injury by now...it obscured the lines of some of the
spins..and Chris says there could have been more light and shade there.

Sauri and Stifunin FRA
Tan top for him, trousers to match her dress.which is reddy cerisey...Notre
Dame de Paris..have changed it from Sleepy Hollow....she has very frizzy
blonde hair...god theres a lot of flesh coloured net on that top for
her...lift with erh tucked up against him....nice swingy lift where she foes
all around....besti squats....spinny dancey stesp...antoerh lift with him in
besti....very difficult ....s/s steps...much better synch than the
poles...dance spin....stop...music change....they waves fists around....she
spins aroudn him.....circular step...great footwork....she goes under his
elgs....twizzles and he stumbles slightly.....music builds....and I'm not
sure they're building with it.....going for hands there didn't get it at
first....leg kicks in time with music...besti sqauts facing each other but
leaning away...and they finish with him spinning her around, her upside down
leaning away from him...interesting and enjoyable and Chris and Simon loved
it....I did enjoy it as well...some of the stuffwas a little ungainly but
its a new routine and it looks it....I hope they keep it for next year, I'd
like to see what they do with it when they grow into it...there was light
and shade in it....it was great but can be better
marks...they should be second....4.1-4.8...4.3-4.9...all seconds but Hungary
has them first...AZE has third..they're second.

Humphreys and Baranov GBR
As S&C wave the flag....red dress for her...asymmetrical cut, with black on
one half of her chest and illusion fabric around the middle...red shirt for
him...if they move up one to 15th, they're guaranteed passage for
SLC....Hungarian Rhapsody No 2 Liszt.....start with him kneeling...lifts her
around....already you can see she has great free leg extenstion....lift
where she proves it again....dance spin in camel position...more classical
approach says Chris...step sequence was nice....s/s twizzles...nicely
timed....move where shes kneeling and he twirls here...striaght line
step....crowd are clapping....lift whre shes ipside down then horizontal
against him...more steps...into dance spin...he goes under her leg...more
steps where she's kneeling a little ungainly looking....lift where her
leg is over his shoulder....great lift...where he's in camel and her legs
are wrapped around his extended one...that was great...circular step...nice
changes of hold and position....making sure they close the circle...and he
lifts and spins her and they finish, her looking triumphant him kneeling to
her on the ice....and Chris and Simon beat the drum of national pride
although Chris admits to some dicey moments, calling it a splendid
effort....start was great...he calls her extension as well...Simon says she
was never better shown off....he talks about the chemistry of hte husband
and wife team.....

And matching costumes....black and purple....with stinking great gold
sequinned Xs across their chests....innovative start....her lying right back
him pulling her up and letting her down....great timing on the twizzles to
start...lift rightt onthe music him in camel her upsidedown....bestisquats
spreadeagle from him....steps....he spins her head around..,ore bestis..her
leaning back looking at him...dance spin...circular step....lots of changes
of hold and direction...powerful opening has chris praising them....great
timing and synch...wow...lift with him in besti her on his back
upsidedown....dance spin....diagonal step squence...again with the good
unision...more twizzles...he goes under her leg twice....more steps...one
going around the other...him leaping and flying....lift wher e hse's bent
right over, leaning on him in besti....that was great.....and they're
done...that was amazing. So powerful, so passionate...top class, Simon is
gushing...that final lift was a back breaker...they looked like they both
had a whale of a time...got as close to lying on the ice as you could get
without breaking the rules at the start...look at the final lift!..wow!

Red dress for her...slash down the middle of it, sequins along the
side....and hello to the chest from him....its not a bad chest mind you,
shame about the blouse that's encasing it....I didn't mean that in a smutty
way mind you....it's an ugly top is what I mean. Ugly and sparkly....Funeral
for a Friend....the sleeves on the blouse are huge...they're like
wings....there is also no back to her dress, very little side.....nice move
with her in camel into dance spin....move where thye're spreadeagled facing
the other...I liekthat....dance spin...lovely flow to that...him leaning
back in besti looking into her eyes.....lift...and another, the same but in
the opposite rotational direction....twizzles, nicely done....dance spin
with her leg on his shoulder...steps...circular step...another
lift....diagonal step....graet unison....a lift with her doing the splits
through his legs....himn leaning forwards...and antoehr difficult
lift....dance spin from that...one element just blends into the
next....circular steps....and another lift where he hold s her through
herlegs...and they're done....wow...another great skate....tricky program,
physically demanding and they pulled it off....you could see Zhulin's stamp
all over that...very impressive...and they covered the ice so well....Chris
talks about the holds inthe spins, how hard they were..

Listen to yonder roar! He's in gladiator type costume...avec studs on the
shoulders....she's in a natty gold number which could not be tighter...Titus
SDTK...and theres silver in her dress too....in the skirt...opens with a
bang...he lidts her and wow...that's some lift...she ends up legs split
either side ofhim facing the ice...glidy move with her in bent leg camel
position...cool....wow for the other lift....incredible...and
seamless...real daring says simon....circular step....dance spin..him in sit
position...another lift with her in upside down pike and him swinging her
around...teizzles....great ....pause.....moving in one spot at centre
ice....great dance steps...another lift....where do theycome up with them??
leaning gliding move...leads to another lift....dance spin....great timing
on the twizzles.....and nice movement in tfootwork here....she has a great
spiral...him in besti. carying her between his legs and they're done...and
the crowd are standing! That was great...and he kisses her hand and she says
no you don't honey and lays one on him....you go girl! how do they get into
those lifts? how? someone tell me! and how do they come up with them? S&C
loved it and I am in total agreement....so many changes of position....great
unison....look at that lift....she gets that wrong and Mama Lauzon don't get
no grandkids.....that was great.....

West Side Story from the brother and sister team...her in red dress. him in
black t shirt and trousers. Simple and appropriate given the music....nice
start...she hops on his hip...then down....nice twirly moves...lift wher he
swings her all over!...steps along the diagonal...tricky moment
there....move where it looks like she's beating him up...steps...circular
step...good unsions...for the most part...losing it on the twizzles...nice
lift...where he ends up in front shoot the duck, her lying on him facing the
same direction...dance spin...Chris laments lack of difficulty of
footwork....lift....him in spreadeagle, her leg out...dancing on the spot to
Maria....another lift..her on his shoulders, then swinging down...dance
spin....pause....music speeds....to America..and the unsion is gone on the
twizzles....lift....spinny lift...and they;re done. Fun but flawed Simon
pronounces, and after the last three dances, it suffers by comparison in my
opinion. Lots of two footed skating Chris points out...and anti clockwise
twizzles which are easier. They both agree that the sparkle was missing.
Which is what I said. Yay me. Linichuk and Karponosov in K&C with
them...they're looking for fourth, any lower and they drop
marks...4.5-4.9...4.8-5.1..and 4th it is. 5/4 split though

Nowak and Kolasinski POL
The Godfather ....her in matronly black as the mourning widow...he's all in
black pinstripes...he's kneeling on the ice...she's behind him....lifts his
arm over her neck and lifts him up....I'm thinking he's dead...he leans back
on her leg....move around...she has the headscarf around her head....or
neck...one or the other...dancey steps...he goes under her bent leg
spriall...he leans back she leans on him and glides....lift where she's
between his legs....lift where he lifts her over and around...and anotehr
where she's draped all over him....dance spin.....music changes...chris
calls them tight in the knees...no unison on twizzles....lift like D&Ls
backbreaker....he steps over her when she's in charlotte spiral...dance spin
with her leg over his hands, and they turn her over in the
middle....diagonal step...better on the twizzles....lift...where he's spinn
her, holding her with one hand..very good spin says chris..another with her
leg on his shoujlder....move where she holds him in nearly death
spirall....he kneels on the ice and leans back...she drapes herself over him
and they're done. At Euros she took off a scarf and draped it over her head
I think...they didn't do that here ....Chris says that the first piece of
music wasn't great...he was very stiff inthe knees, probably nerves. these
have dropped a few places from last year...they were top ten at one
stage...14th going into this....

starts the melancholy yodel of lack of movement....

Ah...kinda gladiatorial since they're skating to Gladiator...very like Abts
costume but not as red....her eyelashes are very blonde...she starts leaning
back all overhim as he crouches on the ice...lift...drop out of it...she
crouches and he kicks over her, she goes under his leg...dance spin, her leg
wrapped around his neck....lift..lotsa changes of position before he sets
her down...lots of arm waving intime with the music...twizzles...not great
unison but not terrible...diagonal step ...circular step...music
changes...chris praises the footwork...dance spin....good use of the music
to be sure....lif twhere he's crouching and she's right upside down in the
air....kinda hydroblading lean onthat glide...lift...she's got a nice
extension too...her in besti. him lying against her...leaning on her....they
stop at centre ice...msic builds again for pair spin...lift where she's
wrapped around his chest....twizzles...and a spinnt lift to end which they
do with her upside down pressed against him...not sure about that. Simon
doesn't think you can dance to Gladiator. I take his point..>Chris calls it
theatre on ice....he notices she smiled right the way through...not
appropriate? Technically intricate, very fast but didn't have the magic for
me...Chris calls the in move the besti squat...and the amount of times I've
typed that this evening I certainly agree...although he called it
spreadeagle with the knees bent...I"m sticking with mine!

Costumes are scary...wine and black...Variations...her dress also has white
in it and it's very raggy...start with a lift...into pair spin...great
timing with the music ..dance spin....lift where he's very low down...turny
moves...sliding stop....famous music leads to straight line step which is
incredible...he's so good!...lunges from him as she spins around him and
they move acrossthe ice like that...more stpes...fantastic lift where he
spins her....glide with her in besti....more spinnny steps...twizzles were
great...and more....spin where he's lifting her....he spins with her lying
across him as her feet tap the ice....stop...dance spin.....into lift with
spins...doesn't she get dizzy?? lift with her in splits...which goes on
forever..her besti between his legs....he spins her around in a fabulous
circular step...so much movement and footwork and moreperfect
twuzzles....lunges...the crowd holler....diagonal steps to finsih ...and
spins and thye're done....that was just fantastic. Just fantastic. Really
speical Simon calls it...such drama and power...so many steps..Chris thinks
twice as many as anyone else...they just flew acrossthe ice for four
minutes....you could watch that seven times and still find something new in
it...and all that footwork is done at breakneck speed...and they go from
corner to corner...there'snot an inch of the rink that they haven't
covered....that was great...hugs from Tarasova.

Gospel medley...gold costumes....drool bucket ready and waiting....oh, I
like that angle....go down moses....he looks fine....lift to start with him
in gliding crouch...dance spin....how great thou art...guess what my kids
are learning on monday???? nice move where she goes by him...lift....loss of
unison on those twizzles...lift where she's standing on his
legs...steps...better twizzles....dance spin where he holds her leg...faster
music...people clap...steps with good change of hold and direction....they
sing along....nice circular step...upside down over the shoulder
lift...spinny lift.....dance on the ice..s/s dancing in front of the

different routine to the isr, in a way it's unfair to compare them but there
was more ooomph to the israelis. they look happy though. this was also very

bend...lift...transitions are so smooth....dance spin....and the music
speeds...she goes under her leg she foes under his arm....diagonal step is
fast and furious....lift and spin...she's bent rightback clutching her
skates....twizzles a little off....steps....in straight line...round the
corner....much better tewizzles....and they stop...with her on one foot the
other leg extended in front of her....slow moves in one place...get their
breath back...nice lift....an naother one..him in side shoot the duck....her
across him....dance spin....fast again....high kicks....twirls...in the
circular step, nice changes of hold and postioin....lift that looked
raggy...they missed it the first time but got it back...and they hug at
centre ice...Simon thinks it reminded him of the Duchesnays....Chris loved
it and would give them second...loved the quality of skating, the knee bend
again...circular step was much repetitious he says....yeah, botched the lift
at the end, but recovered well....she has the biggest bear I have ever
seen....trained and choreographed by Zhulin...

Denkova and Staviyski BUL
Black bottoms and black and white tops....swirly tops...Exotica....he needs
to cut his hair....lifts her in a split....spins her around, him bent at the
waist...her between his legs now...great opening...little hops as they go
around.....lift with her doing the splits. him in besti...great
speed....using the beats of the music well...to the barrier...that's
interesting movement on the spot...twizzels from the barrier not bad...dance
spin very fast...change to kneeling dance spin...lift with her straight up
himn in besti....dance spin and he came out under her, really leaning on the
blades...they meant that!. stop..and dancey poses...lots of bent waist
movements here...circular step not as fast as some we've seen....building
speed now though....lots of lifts and spins....her leaning back arms around
his neck legs around his waist as they spin and they're finished. Simon
thinks that the sum of it's parts wasn't great, although there was lots of
great bits...no real theme chris points out...he wonders how they came up
with some of those moves...

spins and twirls...slide her though...he kneels she leans on him....ode to
joy...dance spin....andstop...vocals....he goes to kiss her hand she poulls
it away..the only woman who would....lovely gilding skating here..spirally
sptes...lift with her on his shoulder...she lftis him..him leaning on her
knees...lov ethat...twizzles great timing....she foes under his leg...music
builds....stiaght line step lifttle hoppy things and lunges...twizzlles
thought they lost it but got it back...circular step so fast...good turns
and changes.....spins...he lifts her holding he in front of him...spinnnyl
ift... and he lifts her and thye're done.....well it looked foot perfect
said Simon....really great but I'm too nervous to enjoy it! Not the
rapturous reception of last year, much better than Euros....they've thrown
down the gauntlet that's for sure....used their entire bodies, and so

Can they push open the door? More black and grey...mcuh chest from

his leg, lift....lots of changes of hold in the little steps here....come
around the corner...he swings her as she kneels on the oce...wingy
lift....lift where she does the splits as he carries her....interesting
view...music changes, lotsa kicks...circular step...they both lunge and
slide...he lifts and truns her over...she leans back in his arms..bell
tolls...get their breath back...dance spin....more steps...lift where he
crouches and lean. dance spin...twizzles...not as hard as the french???
sprial move where she ends up unde rhis le.g....lift...change sof
position....steps, little runny steps...music speeds....steps
sequence....she's still doing most of the work....they come down centre ice
in a lift...and they're done....and she punches her fist.s...they think
they've done it and they may well have simon says....he picks her up and
spins her around...Simon can't choose...I can and I choose french....for me
personally it was a more pleasing program.....this was more
frenetic....chris was worried she'd overcook it at the start and he looked
tight at the end.....but I just have a feeling, as does Simon that they have
it....certainly probably on the first mark....

Pink and purple and her hair matches her dress....now that's
dedication.....he is in black with blue panels...shades of blue..shouldn't
they like, I don't know, match or something? Cause they don't. oh theres a
tassley thing on her dress that matches him. my bad. anyhoo, great lift
there where she's upside down and he carries her...twizzles...nice...toccata
in fugue....he runs she twirsl...nice lift great changes of position...quick
steps...and did he slide there? circular step...she pushes him along the ice
as he kneels on one knee...dance spin or lift could be either or both...a
lift where she makes like a pendukum while upsidedown...dance
spin...running....turns and truns....ciruclar step...has nice changes of
postion....twizzles and they were good...llittle smile from
him...lift....striaght line steps...more twizzles...yes from him....dance
spin....and he kneels...she stands on him...and that's that....he's
beaming...kisses her knee before rising...crowd are muted, well duh.....they
did that well....good speed and innovation...some of these lifts are

Have changed program....nice pale lilac dress for her...matching top for him

hsoulder....she kneels he kneels and slides after her...such flow..bset
we've seen so far...dance spin.....lift where hse leans back almost
horizontal to the ice...legs around his wiast....another lift where shes
upside down...twizzles...very nice...perfect time with teh music and perfect
synch too....circular steps....spins...to near the barrier...dance
spin....kicks...moving around again ...lift...and another with her doing the

again....chris had forgotten how good that was...hadn't we all??? skated it
so well...chris prefers this to the russians ...as do I....
