Week 38:

My head is resting on Mom's pelvic bones.  I've got 37 cm of uterus to swim in now.  I still roll from side to side.  The doctor says that I am going to be between 7 and 8 pounds.  That's bigger than Ryan was!  Mom is 2 cm dilated and 25% effaced.  Mom is ready for me to be born anytime now!

Week 37:

I've now dropped down closer to Mom's pelvis.  I have more room to kick and roll around now.  Mom had to go to the chiropractor because I have kicked some of her ribs out of place.

Week 36:

Mom just had another doctors appointment.  The doctor says it can be any day now!  I've dropped down a little and my head is engaged (whatever that means).  Mom is dilated to 1 cm and her uterus is at 35cm!

Week 35:

I'm starting to add fat to my bones and muscles.  I've grown big enough to take up almost all the space inside mom's uterus.  The end is near!  I can't wait to meet all of you!

Week 34:

I'm starting to have sleep/wake cycles, where my eyes are open while I'm awake and my eyes are closed while I'm sleeping.  I'm building immunities to fight mild infections that I may get.  I'm rolling more now and still growing!  Mom is getting more uncomfortable when I move.

Week 33:

I'm really packing on the weight now!  I will double in size before I'm born, gaining half my birth weight in the next seven weeks before delivery.  That means Mom will gain at least 10 more pounds.  I'm responding more to external stimuli.  I kick when I hear my brother talking to me!  Loud music wakes me up and Bach puts me to sleep.

Week 32:

All 5 of my senses are functional now!  My toenails are completely formed and I'm looking more like a newborn every day.  I dig my toes into Mom's ribs to stretch my legs.  I can now pass water through my bladder, getting ready to wet diapers!

Week 31:

My body is slowing down to try and let my lungs catch up.  My digestive track is almost completely developed.  I am about 3 pounds now.

Week 30:

My brain is still rapidly growing and continuing to develop. My bone marrow is now responsible for red blood cell production.

Week 29:

I am continuing to grow and am adding more weight.  My body is filling out my skin better now.  When a bright light is shined on Mom's tummy, I turn my head and open my eyes to look at the light.

Week 28:

My eyes open and close as I sleep and awaken.  My brain is actively developing and I'm beginning to dream now.  Hiccups are quite common for me this week.

Week 27:

Today is the beginning of the third trimester!  I can open my eyes and am beginning to focus.  My limbs are growing longer and stronger as I gain more weight.

Week 26:

My optic nerve is functioning now.  I respond to touch and light.  I am very active in the evening and make it difficult for Mom to sleep.

Week 25:

My brain is developing more this week.  My lungs are producing surfactant so my lungs can hold air without collapsing.

Week 24:

My hearing is now fully functional and I startle easily.  I blink and move when I hear loud sounds.

Week 23:

The bones in my middle ear are very solid now.  I am reacting to noises and can hear when my family talks to me.  My nostrils are opening this week.

Week 22:

I weigh just over a pound now!  My eyelids and eyebrows are fully formed and my brain is growing rapidly!

Week 21:

I'm kicking a lot now.  I can swallow and digest sugars from the amniotic fluid.  I am about the size of a large banana.  My first pictures are scheduled for next week!!!

Week 20:

Halfway mark!!  This week my brain is rapidly developing special areas for taste, touch, smell, hearing and vision.

Week 19:

I'm really growing fast now, I'm twice the size I was last month!  I can kick and push and flex and roll.

Week 18:

This week I weigh nearly a half a pound!  My eyes are looking forward rather than out on the sides of my head.  I'm looking more like a baby now!

Week 17:

My heart is really working hard!!  It's pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day!  My reflexes are in place as I can now swallow, blink and suck.  Dad can feel me move now, too!

Week 16:

My bones are still hardening.  I move my arms and legs more now.  My legs are longer than my arms and I now have fingernails and toenails.

Week 15:

My bones are starting to harden and my skin will thicken...although you can still see the blood vessels through my skin.  I can now suck my thumb.  Mom can feel me moving.

Week 14:

Now I am about 3 1/2 inches long, and weigh about 2 ounces.  I start to practice "inhaling/exhaling" movements.  My hands and arms start to move more freely.

Week 13:

This week my vocal cords form and my face takes more shape.

Week 12:

Now just about all my organs and other structures are formed.  My fingers and toes have separated and my hair will start to grow.

Week 11:

The most critical part of my development is over.  I will now start to grow very fast...I am about an inch long now, but by the end of the week I will be almost 2 inches long.

Week 10:

I'm swimming!  I'm moving around more now that most of my joints are formed!

Week 9:

In my ninth week my eye structures are taking form, but they will be sealed shut for a while yet.  My bone and cartilage are starting to form.  I will also form a tongue, fingers and thumbs, but they will still be webbed for a few more weeks.

Week 8:

My elbows begin to form, my fingers start to develop, my feet have tiny notches for the toes. My face continues to change as my ears, eyes and the tip of my nose appears.  My teeth develop under my gums.

Week 7:

I'm growing, but still the size of a grain of rice.. My brain is growing as well as the lenses of my eyes, nostrils, intestines, pancreas and bronchi.

Week 6:

My eyes and ears begin to form as well as an opening for my mouth.  My arms and legs begin to form.

Week 5:

This week my circulatory system will start to develop and function.  My heart is beating!
