Randy and I have been busy for the last 22 years and our most important endevor has been God's gifts of our 7 children! Praise the Lord!
Warren is 21 now and has finished up his 2 year at Western Michigan. His major is Business but has dabbled in the theater. Doing a "cab show" a year ago for the incoming students. He was wonderfully funny. Plus he did another off campus show that was great too. No plans right now for any plays but that could change when school starts up again. Right now he is disc jocking for a radio station, WRKR. Warren has recently joined a band called "Barely Legal" He plays the bass guitar.
Kevin just graduated from high school and had a really fun year. He was on the golf team and made "all conference". His car was picked to be the most popular. His basketball team went all the way to the finals. The first in the school history. Finishing up one game away, losing to the eventual winners in the class B division. Sad but fun too. He sported a "mullet" hair style for his senior year and was so popular for it that he was written up in his school paper, chanted for in games, and mentioned in a graduation speech "...to a golfer/basketball player who just cut off his mullet...". The whole house went wild w/cheers. Too good.
Kevin plans are to work alot this summer and to move out w/his brother and another friend. He works at Gull Lake View golf course and is the cook. He is planning on attending Kalamazoo Valley College this fall and of course play on their golf team.
Gary has had probably his roughest year. Early this spring he drove his buddies car and airborne the thing w/2 friends in it!! All had their seatbelts on so nobody got hurt but it was very scary. Then just a day before he and his Dad were to go pick up his new car, Gary was argueing w/the lawn mower and the mower won. Gary ran over his foot. He still has everything intact but his foot is pretty ugly w/2 broken toes. Again we are just praising the Lord for keeping a hand on this one. His Mother and Dad went to Olivet and picked up his car. A Fiero. (Yes, I am again on my knees!)
Hopefully, he will have a full recovery and have fun again playing football in his senior year.
Karla is now 14!!! She has a real knack w/hair and design. I think she will probably be directed to use those talents in the courses she chooses in school. She was on the cheerleading squad last year but it is not a given that it will happen again. She will be trying out this fall. She seems to be a pretty popular girl and makes decisions that pleases us w/her friends. For the most part, Karla likes to stay in her room. She gets along well w/her mirror!!
Rebecca is 12 and is a very happy girl. She is always, to me, been my "little girl". I think of her as my "short one". Well, Becca now stands at 5'4" and stares me in the eye!!! She is really changing right now. Rebecca does well in school and is thinking of the nursing field.
Jerome is my Nintendo guy. Loves to play his "64". He is also into football. "Jerome is VERY intellegent...but a poor listener" says his teachers (and his mother!). Alas, I say--he'll learn. Jerome loves football too and he is big enough. Always the tallest in his class. Going to be the big man on campus this yr. in 6th grade.
Bernard is 21 months and the apple of everyones eye! So cute and he knows how to get what he wants and never says a word! Still, he hasn't spoken a word. No worries tho. He's smart. He can get us to understand anything and everything. It's amazing. Right now he isn't much help to his mother. Very demanding and makes me follow him around all day, which of course I do. Bernard looks like all three of my older boys! How a person can look like three boys that don"t even look alike is perplexing. He has the long face of Warren, the expressions of Kevin and the big eyes of Gary. Cute. Cute. Cute.
As for me... I am just getting fat! I am at a point in my life when it just doesn't bother me (too much). I weigh 143#'s. Ok, ok...145. Still, I don't care. I will eventually lose it I am sure. I am still nursing Bernie.
I am into my garden right now. Strawberries are going crazy and I must pick them everyday. I remember Mom each time I make her shortcake and that is nice. I have made my first jam too. I will have a ton of raspberries too if its gonna be a good year for them but the bushes look wonderful right now. I plan on putting up alot of tomatoes also.
I am into my perennial flowers too. Not good at it I see but staying at it just the same.
My latest venture I am considering is to become a midwife. Right now I am just getting information and seeing which path to take. It is something that interests me but who knows....
Randy is still selling Prepaid Legal and last month was the best single sales person in the COUNTRY. Single meaning he doesn't do group sales. He does one sale at a time. How can you say all that and we are still struggling? Well, people it takes an astronomical amount of money to raise 7 children w/o alot of insurance benefits and w/past bills. But we are doing what we have to and bills are getting paid sooo its just a matter of time I am sure. I know, I know---but if making millions was easy everybody would be doing it! He is determined and he stays focused 24/7.
