The sounds...

As my Geocities account seems to be travelling at Mach 3 towards it's 11 Meg limit, I'm going to have to keep the audio files on my Tripod page. Most of these aren't gonna be from studio quality recordings, and I don't plan on having any songs that are on the commercial releases. Jimi's family is doing great work, and I support them with my business, you should too! So any songs that I feature here will be from ROIO's, or CD's that aren't available anymore. If a new CD from the Hendrix estate comes out and has a song that is on here, it will be removed immediately.

Please note: These files require Real Player version G2 or higher to play properly. You can download a free player from www.real.com

On February 13th, Experience Hendrix will be releasing a DVD called 'Experience', a re-issue of the video that came out a number of years ago. But there will be an extra 40 minutes or so of additional material, including the footage of the band on the Swedish television show Popside. Of which I had RealMedia versions of online for viewing. As I mentioned above, I will not step on EH's territory with anything I showcase here, so the two clips are history. But I will try and get some new audio clips up for listening in the next week or so.

Hound Dog

  • Hound Dog - This is Jimi on acoustic guitar, at a party in London somewhere. Possibly recorded March 2, 1969. There's not many examples known to exist of Jimi on acoustic guitar. There are a number of tracks in the archives with Jimi on an unplugged guitar, but few actual acoustic recordings. Which is really a shame, because what few example are known to exist show an amazing side of Jimi's playing. There is of course the well known Hear My Train A Comin', which is amazing not only in it's musical excellence, but also in the fact that it nearly wasn't captured on tape! This is another rarity, just Jimi having some fun, playing for some friends at a party. They seemed to enjoy the song, and I hope you do too!
