Well well well, can you believe it...a
girlie doing a review, how did I sneak past the board of
men and get my say in? I tell you how, because it was
realised how good my review was OH and I happen to be
Kevins sister! anyway, on with the review. Coolboaders hit our screens in 1996 and was a completely differant kind of game. No car racing, or fist-fighting, but a chap or chapette snow boading down a slope missing absticles and also throwing in a few tricks whislt trying to be the fastest cu#t on the slope. Well, how does it fare noe, 4 years on, well read on to find out my view... "throwing in a few tricks whislt trying to be the fastest cu#t on the slope." Coolboaders is a game that involves quick reactions, concentration and loads of determination. Lets start at the beginning with the main menu. You have a choice of start or options, on the options you can change your controls to 5 differant types, the default is 'Cross': Jump 'Triangle': change view 'Square': hard turn and the R1+R2 buttons to do the tricks. The sound adjusted to your taste, trusty memory card and ranking(most important) then you have start. First you choose your course, you have three choices Novice, Advanced and Expert, then you have, unusual at the time, choice of music play from 8 differant funky tunes(obviously an important factor in any game) Next you have board select, 6 differant board types giving differant speeds, response and stability. Then you have to select your colour from a choice of 4. Then you select Male or Female(obviously a female is much better but the game makers[UEP systems] decided you needed a choice!) Now you have 4 types of gear to wear(you have to look funcky on the slopes) Then you play... The game is sooooo brilliant but the commentator gets on your tits and sounds a bit of an as#hole. The fun comes in trying to do differant tricks and still land on your board. The music is great with differant tunes to get your heart beating as you ski down the slopes, which all adds up to the great atmosphere that this game gives you.The Only grumble that I have, which is a little one, is that you can only choose 3 courses, but overall this game is excellant and recommended to anyone looking for something differant to car racing and platform games.
