"I'm saying Snes because it has some of the best games around, like FF6, Crono Trigger and Street Fighter. Those were the days :)"

"Snes, because of all the great Mario games, the Contra's, the NBA Live's, the Cannon Fodder's, Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, Tecmo Basketball, the list goes on."

"I feel the SNES is the best for many reasons - the large software library, it's technical accomplishments, and the special chip plugin feature (DSP, SFX, SA-1, SDD-1, C-4). It is by far the best 16 bit console, and still the most fun to play."

"The SNES was ahead of its time in graphics and sound (wavetable + fx anyone?). Plus it had some games that games on newer consoles just can't even compare to."

"I vote SNES because I never bought one and played on MD instead (which still holds sentimental value). But on playing the old ROMs of SNES esp. Mario World, LOZ3, Chrono Trigger I can see it was best. An example of Nintendo getting it right. Now lets hope for some Gameboy Advance conversions of some of them."

"- the gameboy - portable gaming at its best, fair point the graphics are weak & it's only just got colour, but it has huge amounts of titles & the battery life is good, also is due for an update with the gameboy advance soon- Oh before I forget it also has Pokemon."

"If you regard "best" as very popular and groundbreaking then the Gameboy wins hands down. 10 years old, still going strong, huge catalogue, evolving technology without being revolutionary and requiring users to upgrade to play new games, portable, succesful. The list goes on. However the PSX is a close contender as, although it was not ground breaking it influenced gaming culture to a huge extent (maybe it was the sole influence) and dragged gaming kicking and screaming from the bedroom or study into the lounge while leaving the geek behind."

"I'd have to agree. In the Gameboys many incarnations it's out lived the Megadrive, Snes, Saturn, Jaguar...Is there any need to go on? Plus the future for the GB looks bright too with the Advanced Gameboy on the way!"

"Dreamcast!! Why? Well play F1WGP, Soul Calibur, UEFA Striker and you'll see why! Also ISS2000, Crazy Taxi plus loads other I could mention are on the way. Its the best console I have ever had and I can say this as I've had (or still have) them all. The DC shits all over the PS and N64 from a great height. Right, that should be enough to get a good argument going...........:)"

"I vote PlayStation because my Dreamcast is currently discarded whilst I play GT2. Boring choice definitely, but over the years it has remained attached to the tv (unlike my N64 which resides in a cupboard)."

"It was a close call between Playstation and MasterSystem, MasterSystem being my first console, but Sony just gets it due to the fact that the graphics are the best I've ever seen, the games are stunning, and the fact that I already have so many good memories! Roll on Playstation2..."

"Okay then. After much deliberation, I can honestly say... the N64. Although I love my Playstation (that's just a figure of speech, BTW) and enjoy playing games on it, they are just that - games. Whereas N64 games, as long as they're done well, seem like experiences. Banjo Kazooie, Mario 64 and Zelda 64 are examples; all of the games I have for the Playstation are disposable titles, which I play for a while and then put away. Whereas my N64 encourages hours-long gaming sessions. So, the N64 has it."
