      Duties: I was the assigned instructor for Environmental Sciences 101, which included designing and presenting five hours a week of lectures, as well as labs, assignments, and exams. This course was an introduction to Environmental Science, where most of the students had limited experience in Biology or Chemistry. It also was highly independent, with little oversight. I also designed six days worth of new labs, including a field study, as well as a naturalist trip.

      Duties: I was an instructor for the Biology 101, 204 and 206 labs.       Duties: I have worked as a teaching assistant for three courses at Huxley College. During the fall of 2004 I assisted with the Experimental Design course for Dr. Brian Bingham. For this course I helped instruct students on usage of statistical packages on the campus computers. I also tutored several students individually to help with this difficult statistics course. During the Fall of 2005 I was the teaching assistant for Dr. John Rybczyk's Wetlands Ecology course. During this quarter I graded exams, lab notebooks, projects, and also helped instruct field labs and some of the in-class teaching. During the spring of 2006 I was the TA for Dr. Leo Bodensteiner's Fisheries Management Lab. This is a field lab class, where we take student out to the surrounding water bodies, and use scientific methods to survey fish populations. I helped with boat operation, taught methods in the field, graded quizes and exams, and was responsible for most of the gear clean-up and maintainence.

      Duties: I was assigned to several Seattle-area ports, where I asked questions of private fishers to determine their catch that day, as well as time spent fishing and other relevant information. Also did biological sampling of marine fishes, such as weight, length and scale sampling. Position is independent, and must be self-driven. Also worked commercial Purse Seine fishery in November, as on on-board observer.

      Duties: I began work in the WWU Biology Department by aiding Dr. Muller-Parker in data analysis, entry and cell counts. Beginning in the Fall of 2001, I continued my projects from that Summer, including writing a grant for to purchase an HPLC. The grant was approved, and I derived my own HPLC methodology based on my available resources, and completed the project. In the 2002-2003 school year I assisted Dr. Muller-Parker on an initial Costa Rica project, as well as completing my work's writing and statistics for publication. Work will be submitted to a peer-reviewed scientific journal in early to mid-2004.

I worked primarily in the ports of Ilwaco and Chinook, near the mouth of the Columbia River. When working on commercial fisheries I had to call in data to Doug Milward, in order to maintain an immediate and accurate count for season.

      Duties: During this nine-week summer program it was my job to design, implement, complete, make conclusions, and present results of a marine biology experiment. I designed an experiment involving UV-absorption of intertidal sea anemones, using UV-Vis chromatography. I completed my research, and presented it using MS PowerPoint to the faculty of SPMC. Out of the eight researchers that year I was selected to present my conclusions to the Ocean Sciences Conference. At that conference I was selected as the second place undergraduate poster presenter, by scientists in the field.
