				Assigned: 1 July 2001
			Entered the service on 25 June 1975. Upon completion of the Basic and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Polk, he was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 21st Infantry, 24th Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He has been assigned to an Armored Cavalry Regiment in Bad Kissengen, Germany and spent two tours with an Infantry Unit in the Berlin Brigade. Stateside, he has been assigned to the 101st Airborne Division, a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Mc Clellan, Ala, and several other assignments. He was a Senior ROTC Insructor at Augusta State University and also served as the 6th Brigade Sergeant Major. CSM Horton has held a variety of leadership and staff positions from Squad Leader to Rifle Company First Sergeant, culminating with his last assignment as Command Sergeant Major of the 4th Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Training Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. CSM Horton is a 1992 graduate of the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy and has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from the University of Maryland. CSM Horton is Married to the Former Sherri L Bloyd. They have 3 children (Scott-CPT USMC, Michelle- of Wrens, GA, Shaun- of Hephzibah, GA.) and 2 Grandchildren
