SAI: LTC. (R) H. Boyd Long III's Biography
Assigned: 1 July 95
Entered the service 15 September 1975 after graduating from North Georgia College as a Distinguished Military Graduate. Attended the Armor Officer Course, FT Knox, KY. Three days after graduation was notified that he had recieved a Regular commission into the Military Police Corps. Attended both Airborne and Ranger Schools at Ft. Benning , GA. Upon completion of both schools he was assigned as a platoon leader then XO of the 988th MP Company. He next assignment was as the installation Physical Security Officer. He attended the MP Advanced Course in 1979. He was then assigned to Korea after graduating, as Company Commander of 142nd MP Company. After completion of command he was assigned as Plans Officer then Operations Officer on the Joint Staff of the Eight Army Provost Marshal. Next he was assigned as the Commander of the Ft. Gordon CID Field Officer for three years. In 1985 he was assigned as an ROTC instructor at Stetson University in Deland, FL. In 1988, he attended Command and General Staff College in FT Leavenworth, KS. In 1989 he was assigned to the VII Corps Provost Marshall Office as the Operations Officer, and a year later became the 385th MP Battalion S-3 then XO. He left Germany in December 1991 and was assigned as Provost Marshal, FT. Gordon. In January of 1995 he became the  Director of Public Safety at FT. Gordon, GA. He retired from the Army on 1 October 1995. His  degrees include a Bachelor of Science Degree from North Georgia College in 1975 and a Masters of Public Administration from Breanu College in 1984.
LTC Long is married and has two children and three grandchildren. He currently lives in the Evans, GA community. He is currently a member of the Military Order of World Wars, the American Legion, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
