Let's have an ART PARTY!

This is a party I had for my son’s fourth birthday. It was great. All the kids had a ball!

cake--

I made chocolate cupcakes then frosted some red, some blue, some yellow, and some green. I set out a variety of candies and sprinkles and let the kids decorate their own cupcake. I found crayon candles for the birthday boy’s cupcake. You can also do “make-your-own ice cream sundae”

food--

lots of bright colored finger foods-(ex.= red- apple slices, blue- blueberries, yellow- cheese, orange- cheetos, green- grapes)

color-change punch- make lemonade and serve with ice cubes made with lemonade and a teensy amount of food coloring (it doesn’t take much!) As the ice melts, the kids can watch their lemonade change colors.

decorations--

lots of bright colored balloons and streamers. Tape large pieces of white paper on the walls for the children to color during the party. Use a plain white tablecloth and set cups of markers or crayons around the table so they can decorate the table.

games--

Crayon hunt- Buy one box of crayons per guest, plus two more for extras. Take the crayons out of the boxes and hide them in the yard. Hand each child an empty box, and let them find crayons to fill it. When their box is full, give them an inexpensive coloring book, and then you can have coloring time.

Spider web- You will need long lengths of yarn, one color for each guest. Tie a favor at one end of the yarn, then weave the yarn in and around and under things (under the table, around the lamp, etc.) Give the other end (without the prize) to the child. They have to follow the yarn to find their prize. This is lots of fun when you have lots of kids doing this at the same time! It’s good opening activity.

favors--

crayons and coloring books, watercolor paint sets, pads of paper, stickers
