Egg coloring
Cover the table with lots of newspaper before
beginning!
Supply some cups with egg dye, and spoons for handling eggs. After dying,
set colored eggs back in egg carton to dry. If you draw designs on the eggs
with white crayons before you dye them, the designs will show up after dying.
An alternative way to dye eggs is to cut small pieces of crepe paper
(party streamers, not tissue paper). Give each child a small damp sponge, and
have them dab the egg with water, then stick on the paper squares. After they dry,
peel off the paper for beautiful multi-colored eggs.
Egg hunt
Buy a few bags of plastic Easter eggs. Inside each egg put a
piece of candy or a coin. Inside one egg put a slip of paper that says
"GRAND PRIZE". Whoever finds this egg gets a special prize like a small stuffed
bunny.
Mini egg pinatas
Cover small balloons with papier mache, leaving a small
opening at the top to put the candy into. Dry thoroughly, fill, and cover
opening with more papier mache. Dry again, then paint to look like Easter eggs.
Maker one for each child, and send them home in their treat bags.
Bake a layer cake, and frost. Make a handle out of cardboard, then cover with ribbon. Insert into top of cake. Add green tinted coconut on top, and then easter candies. Decorate the sides of the cake with pastel M&M's, or candy of your choice. You could also do a basketweave design with frosting if you are that ambitious. (I'm not!)
Of course the kiddos wil probably be filling up on candy and hard-boiled eggs as the party progresses, so not a lot of food should be needed.
Jello Eggs
I use the jello egg molds that you can buy, but I know you can also do this
in blown-out eggs.
Easter Eggs Candy
1/4 lb. margarine
1/2 c. milk
2 pkg. pudding mix (not instant) any flavor
1 lb. powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla
chocolate chips for dipping
Melt margarine; add pudding and stir until well blended. Add milk & stir well.
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly. Let boil for 2 minutes, then remove
from heat and add sugar and vanilla. Stir until smooth. When cool enough to
handle, shape into egg shapes. Chill thoroughly.
Melt chocolate chips, and coat eggs with chocolate.
Notes- We generally use vanilla pudding, but chocolate is good too, and
you're supposed to be able to use any flavor in this.
