FAVOR IDEAS

PASS THE FAVOR-This is a good way to pass out goodie bags at a birthday party. Have all the kids sit in a circle and give each of them a wrapped favor.Read them a story. Every time you read a certain word,(like truck or cat), have them pass their gifts to the next person. The gift that they are holding when the story ends is the one they open and keep.

FAVOR BALLS- You'll need 10-20 small treats (candies, plastic dinosaurs, rubber balls, plastic rings, etc.) per child, and lots of crepe paper. Put one of the treats on the end of a long length of crepe paper, and wind the paper around it (like you're rolling a ball of yarn.) Keep winding, adding other small items under the crepe paper every once-in-a-while, until you have used all the items, and the "ball" is 4-5 inches across. You can hide these and have the children hunt for them, or use them as pinata filler. Wouldn't this be fun to get?

GAMES

NAME BINGO- Print each child's name in large letters on a sheet of paper. Have a bowl with scraps of paper in it, one with each letter of the alphabet on it. One at a time, draw a scrap out and read aloud the letter printed on it.Any child with that letter in his name crosses it out. Continue calling letters until one child crosses of all the letters in his name for a "name bingo". You can continue playing until all the children have gotten a bingo.

COIN TOSS- Take coffee cups or other cups that will not tip over or break. Rubberband a prize onto each cup. The kids can then toss a coin into the cup. If they get it in a cup, they win that prize.

GIFT OPENING GAME- While gifts are being opened, set a timer for about 2 minutes. Whoever’s gift is being opened when the timer goes off wins a prize. Reset timer and play again until all gifts are opened.

ODDS & EVENS- The children dance or jump around to music and when it stops they have to choose a side of the room to stand on. One side should be designated the "odd" side and the other side "even". Once they have made up their minds a die is thrown. If it lands on an odd number all the "odds" are out and if it is an even number the "evens" are out. The rest of the children continue to play, choosing odds or evens each time the music stops, until only one child is left. They are the winner.

PRICE IS RIGHT!-Have a selection of inexpensive prizes laid out on a table in front of the group. (make sure the price tags are off.)One at a time and let the players bid on the items.Whoever bids closest to the actual price,(without going over), wins the item. Note: When playing this with young children, have enough prizes so each child can win once.
