Instructions for Making Swords and Shields

I made a sword and shield for each guest. The swords were made out of corregated cardboard. Do not use heavy cardboard, as they might hurt each other. Corregated cardboard will bend fairly easily, and no one gets hurt. The shields may be made out of heavier cardboard.

Enlarge this pattern so that the shield is about 14 inches across. Cut out sword and shield from cardboard. Cut out small rectangles from center of shield and discard. Using gold spray paint, and in a well ventilated area, paint swords and shields. It will take 2 coats. Red handle may be made out of craft foam, posterboard or felt. Cut out handle, and loop through holes in shield. Bring ends of handle together and glue or staple to make a loop.

At the party, pass out permanent markers, stickers, (glitter if you are brave), etc. So the children can personalize them!
