WHAT IS HERALD? WHAT IS HERALD’S VISION? HOW DID HERALD COME ABOUT?

WHAT IS HERALD?

Herald is the official newsletter of Singles for Christ – West 2 Sector of Laguna. It serves as a messenger of news and events happeningin the community and the good news of the Lord as exemplified in the inspiring testimonies of our brothers and sisters.

WHAT IS HERALD’S VISION?

Herald envisions to unify us, SFC West 2 members, through communication of events, activities, teachings and testimonies of God’s goodness and love that will help us move as one family towards our mission of personal renewal and evangelization. It also aims to serve as a venue where SFC’s can share their writing and related creative skills and sharpen them in the process.

HOW DID HERALD COME ABOUT?

In 2004, the different committees of SFC West2 Special Events were formed under the leadership of Sis. Pryncess Pernia. The Media Committee was one of those. Bro. Hermie Articona fearlessly took the post as Media Head.

Through the combined efforts of all SFC West 2 SE Team members, the first issue of Herald was brought into being on May 2004. The 2-page issue featured the 2004 Laguna Singgolympics as its banner article. There were other articles about SWR1 & 2 and an invitation to join Gawad Kalinga. The Up Close section, which later became one of the longest running sections of Herald, featured the two Heroes of Faith.

Herald became a bi-monthly issue after then. Two succeeding issues under Bro. Hermie’s leadership were released on July (featuring the Broadway Musical competition during the Global Evangelization) and September (highlighting the Spectacular! Spectacular! Acoustic Night and the first introduction of the Mr. & Ms. Herald competition) of the same year. Bro. Hermie decided to pass the service to Sis. Doris Mayo who, armed with the same fearless attitude and total dependence to God, accepted it wholeheartedly. Two more issues were released. The November issue featured the GK Anniversary Celebration and SFC Reloaded. It was also the birth of the Connecting section, the editorial portion of Herald. The four-page year-ender Special Issue, was released on December, just in time for the Mr. & Ms. Herald Pageant Night. The Herald Team was beginning to see its light as more and more SFC’s were gaining interest and showing commitment to be a part of the newsletter.

The year 2005 was greeted by a love-filled Love issue released on the month of hearts, February. It was also a 4-page issue where the first sequel of the kilig Bestfriend’s Diary appeared to the delight of hopeless romantic SFC’s. This issue also gave birth to Thoughts & Views, the section where SFC members can voice their minds and hearts our about a specific topic or issue. Also, for the first time, some SFC members had stepped forward and committed to be Herald’s section and lay-out editors. The first Herald Team line-up:

The past six issues served as the stepping stones to where our current Herald is right now. The seventh issue Every issue was identified through a title derived from Leadership Conference’s themes where every article was anchored on. More than just an ordinary NEWSletter, Herald became an SFC Newsletter in every way.
