Gugo is a very large vine. The stems are thick, as thick as a man’s arm, angled and much twisted. The bark is a dark brown and rough. The leaves are tripinnate with a common petiole ending in along, tough tendril. The leaflets are oblong or obovate 2.5-5 cm long, rigid, leathery and smooth. The flowers are yellowish white, small, in long slender spikes from the axils of the upper leaf. Pods are few, 30-100 cm long, 7-10 cm wide, curved and slightly constricted between the seeds. Seeds are hard, circular and the sides are flattened.

Gugo is usually found in forest at low and medium altitude all over the country.
