 traditional uses:

            root, cob, hair – decoction taken in to increase amount of urine.

 Food values:

            Corn is a staple food in southern Philippines.  Corn has a good content of protein and fat.  It provides more Vitamin A, calcium and phosphorous than rice.

 Recommended medicinal use:

            As diuretic (to increase the amount of urine): Boil corn hair in 2 glasses of water in 15 minutes.

            Amount of corn hair used:

                        For adults:  one cup

                        For children:  7 to 12 years: ½ cup

                                                2 to 6 years: ¼ cup
