            It is an herb which is erect or spreading, branched, coarse, strongly aromatic with fleshy stems.  The leaves are fleshy, broadly ovate, often heart-shaped and somewhat hairy with rounded, toothed margins.

            Oregano is cultivated throughout the country for its aromatic leaves.  It can be propagated by terminal cuttings.  The stems are cut approximately a palm’s length and planted in individual containers or in thoroughly prepared plots.
