Migraine Remedy

The herb feverfew has been used since ancient times as a headache remedy. Although it was also used for fever, thus the name, it has been found specifically effective for some in the treatment of migraines. You can eat feverfew fresh, if you have it, but it tastes quite bitter, and during winter months it is unavailable fresh. Instead, make a syrup of the leaves by boiling water with sugar or honey to taste, letting the syrup cool, then adding the fresh feverfew (two to four leaves daily). Do not boil this herb or its active properties will be destroyed. Also, feverfew will not stop a migraine underway, but can prevent future migraines. Most herbal stores should also have feverfew in dried or pill form, with instructions on amounts written on the packages. As with all home remedies, speak to your doctor about your plans to try going natural.
