Those of you who love the wilderness and enjoy the outdoors West Virginia is a must. Beautiful and wild and rich in culture and heritage! We welcome all who appreciate our great states beauty. You'll not find more hospitable, friendly people anywhere in the world! |
| This is a shot from the Observation tower atop Spruce Knob, the highest point in West Virginia. The picture is beautiful but it actually does little to presemt the awe inspiring panorama you see when you stand there in person. Ice cold wind whipping your clothing and stinging your face. Its quite a magnificent and humbling experience. (god I sound like a York Peppermint Patty commercial!) |
| I love the forest, animals, the natural world! I am about 1/3 American Indian, Apache and Cherokee, and I guess I believe as they do that while we must sometimes use elements of nature to survive, we should also respect it. Do not abuse or take for granted the gifts nature provides for us.. I have nothing against hunting nor hunters and I am not a vegetarian but I hate poachers and those who kill for the sake of killing and do not use or give their catch. Heaven help a poacher if I come across them in the woods!! |

| This is the North American Black Bear. This big fella can be found all across the North American continent and is the state animal for West Virginia. While not as big nor as aggressive as its nothern cousin the Grizzly, I would advise a very healthy respect should you encounter a Black Bear in the wild. By the way, it is not unusual at all to meet up with these guys all over West Virginia! |

| The Rhododendron is the State Flower. Most of them are just white but I thought this one was prettier! So all you horticulturalists get over it Im doing the best I can...hehe. |

| This is a nice shot of the New River Gorge Bridge. The highest single expanse bridge in the world. Hard to tell from this angle but the statue of liberty could sit underneath it with room to spare! |
