In light of the "common expiration
date" victory, the Union has set its sights on bargaining full
collective agreements.
"We are no longer pursuing short-term
contracts. We were ready to limit our goals, considering we were looking
at collective agreements of less than eighteen months. But now, since
we've won "common expiration dates", our goals have changed and
our expectations are higher", says President Paul Clifford.
"Our goal is still to have our
contracts expire in the summer, when our leverage is greatest. But the
length of our collective agreements is negotiable - it depends on what the
hotel corporations offer us. The better the offer, the more likely we are
to consider longer contracts. But whatever the length, we expect
significant improvements!"

Our goals include:
Job Security (no sub-contracting; only union members do bargaining unit
work)
Workload (adequate staffing; offer hours within classifications)
Respect (no changes without prior meetings)
Neutrality for non-union workers
Transit Pass
Improved Benefits
Vastly Improved Retirement Income
Decent Wage Increases
We will keep fighting until we win.
