Calvary Baptist Church

Calvary Baptist Church was organized March 24, 1912 and a Sunday school on April 7, with William B. Hepler as superintendent. He served in that capacity until his death in 1940. Services were held in the upper room of John Graham Davidson's mercantile store until the church was constructed. Davidson gave property near Millboro Springs and the church was completed in 1915. Their first minister, the Rev. J. F. Murray, came in 1913.

During the thirties the church became deeply in debt and the property was put up for sale. Through strenuous efforts by its members the church was put back in active status. Although it closed during the war years, it reopened in 1946 and since that time has moved forward in many ways-in membership, improvements to the building and ministering to others.

Two pieces of property were donated in the last few years. In 1990 a three-story educational addition at the rear of the building was completed.

The Rev. Leslie S. Napier has been their minister since 1980 and present membership is 152.
