You're not there, yet. This page is not part of that site, nor is it run by the same person, or even one of his acquaintances. This is a temporary entry page that was set up because, while the user in question does have valid code on his site, and he is feeding traffic back into the ring, his code does not appear on the page people enter his site from, from the ring.

This is very common among older sites, because Webring used to allow ringmasters the option of allowing ring members to place their code on another page of their site, than their entry page. This makes a certain amount of sense, since the whole point of the ring code is to help people find their way onto the ring after looking through a site. There is a certain elegance to doing things this way. But, sad to sad, Webring no longer allows this option, so those sites set up with it in mind now only get Pass_L ratings, and the ring's navigational rating drops as a result, which is enough to disuade many people from looking through it.

"If it isn't broken, don't fix it" would seem to be a good credo, but one which fewer and fewer people running web services seem to heard lately. So, all that the rest of us can do is find ways to work around the bizarre choices other people make, and wonder when it is, that we'll finally run out of patience and walk away.
