Badges

Professor McGonagall bought a badge from Hermione just to be polite. "What is it dear, Spew?"

"No, S-P-E-W is just an abbreviation," Hermione rolled her eyes. She heard Goyle laughing from behind.

"Haha, spew!" he said. "Like if I ate something really bad and spew all over your books!"

"You are disgusting!" Hermione said to him. "But since I need business, will you buy a badge for the Society of the
Protection of Elfish Welfare?"

"The what?" Goyle looked confused, which was not unusual for someone with his brains.

Hermione sighed and moved on to Draco. She stared at his sleak, silvery blond hair as he talked to Crabbe.

Draco turned his head and looked at Hermione. "What do you want?" he asked in disgust.

Hermione's face turned red. "Uh...um, Will you buy a badge for the Society of the Protection of Elfish Dracos?"

Now Draco's face turned red with fury. "What did you just call me?!" He picked up his goblet of pumpkin juice and
splashed it in Hermione's face. "You mudblood, no Malfoy is anything but pure!" Draco's eyes narrowed. "I am not an elf,"
he said slowly, so the words would sink in.

Hermione bolted away to the bathroom, crying, and tried to wash the pumpkin juice off her face.

Harry tried not to laugh as Hermione told him about what had happened. "Sped?" he said. "That's worse then spew!" He
remembered that the muggles used the word "sped" to describe someone who needed special education.

"Well Draco does need special education," said Ron, half-jokingly. "on getting some manners!"

"Something you wanted to say to me?" Draco burst into Divination with an angry look in his eyes.

"Smooth, Draco," said Harry sarcastically. "You think you're so cool."

Draco snorted. "And you are?!"

Hermione turned away, apparantly embarrassed.

Draco saw her and said, "Granger! 3:00, today, Quidditch field."

Getting extremely nervous, Hermione sat down and chewed on her quill.

Shaking with terror, Hermione started to walk down to the Quidditch field. She screamed as she felt an arm reach out
and grab her.

"Shh!" his hand covered her mouth and said. "The crowd is down there."

Hermione looked at the arm's host. it was Draco.

"There's not actually gonna be a fight," he said. "even though they expect there to be one." he pointed his head
towards the field.

Hermione was confused and getting mad. "Then why am I here?"

"I, uh, wanted to spend some time alone." Draco's face was turning a shade of bright scarlet. He brought his head closer
to Hermione's, attempting to kiss her.

She slapped him in the face. "Who do you think you are?!" She turned and stormed back to the Gryffindor house,
knocking Draco over.
