Back to the drawing board by Herofox Last time Tails and T2 went to Little Tokyo to investigate the disappearance of these three jets that Tails built. On the outskirts of town, Saber showed up and Challenges Tails to a fight. He defeated Tails with a powerful move called "The Tiger Claw" attack. And he then kicked Tails unconscious body into a river. It was raining as Saber looked up at the sky after his victory over Tails, his rival. T2 was gazing at the river with a terrified look on her face. She never thought Saber would do such a merciless thing to anyone. "Hump! Too weak." Said Saber. T2 then turned and shot him an angry growl as a small tear sparkled out from one of her sky blue eyes. "Why Saber?!" She yelled. At this emotional outburst the large saber-tooth turned to the white vixen. "Why?!" T2 continued "Tails was your friend and you...you...killed him!" Saber could only close his eyes and smile without remorse. "Friend, a fine sounding word. But that's all it is." Then he turned, and walked away. Instead of questioning Saber any more, T2 decided to follow downstream. To see if Tails had any hope. Meanwhile Tails eyes opened up. The ceiling of a cabin came into view as his Eyes adjusted to the rooms lighting. "Where am I?" he asked "In an inn." Said a familiar voice. "Knuckles?" asked the fox "Well at least you remember my name this time." Remarked the red echidna. Then he helped Tails to get up. "So how'd you get in the river?" He asked. "I think Saber has something to do with it." Tails replied as he stood up. "I had a feeling those where his claws that gave you those marks." Was Knuckles response. Then the red echidna turned to face the door. "Come with me" Knuckles spoke. "I'll take you home where you can rest." Tails felt pretty embarrassed. If there was one thing he hated, it was being treated like a child. "Knuckles." He said to get his friends attention. "Yeah Tails?" "Just because I lost one fight, doesn't mean I've lost my spirit!" the fox shouted. "Sonic chose me to look for those fighter jets and that's what I'm going to do!" Knuckles got slightly annoyed at this outburst but remained calm. Remember, Tails was still his friend. "I'm not treating you any differently than I'd treat someone my age." He said. "I just thought you'd like to recuperate up on the floating island and talk to Chaotix about your fight. Maybe they could help you beat Saber." Tails now felt even more embarrassed for snapping at Knuckles. "Okay." He said with a sorry look on his face. Meanwhile, T2 met up with Storm. "Sonic told me where to find you and Tails." Spoke the grey wolf. T2 remained silent. She was practically braking up inside. "Hey...Where's Tails?" Storm asked. T2 then answered. "It was Saber. He beat Tails up and tossed him into the river." "Aw no!" Storm responded. T2 felt anger build up inside again, as she clutched the ribbon that used to hold Tails ponytail in place. "This is my fault! I should have helped him fight!" Storm could tell that she was really upset about seeing Tails get hurt. "No, don't blame yourself. It was out of your hands." Then he noticed that she was holding Tails ribbon "Is that Tails ribbon?" He asked. "Yeah." T2 replied "Then maybe I can find him!" Said Storm as he took the ribbon. Then he gave it a good sniff and darted off. Later Tails was on the floating island on a lunch table with Mighty the armadillo and Ray the flying squirrel. Tails: So what do you guys suggest? Mighty: Well, he wouldn't stand much of a chance against me, so I could go talk with him. Tails: Thanks for the offer Mighty but it wouldn't be right to involve you in my problem. Ray: I think I have an idea, you could ask Sonic to re-train you. You learned a lot from him during the war, so maybe he could help. Tails: Wow. That's some good advice! I'll get down to see him now! (So Tails leapt into a telipad and arrived at the palace where he confronted Sonic) "We need to talk" Tails said. I'm sorry it took so long to write this chapter. And it's not very long either ^_^!
