One word: feeder. All in all a pretty decent roach. You'll notice that these are the species they're always eating and/or bathing in on shows like Fear Factor. It's easy to tell the mails form the femails by the two bumps on the males' heads, which they use to butt each other.
They're not a terribly prolific species, but they can get out of control if you don't keep down their numbers. That said, I nearly lost my colony when, after purging most of my collection, I realized that I ony had one female left! Fortunately, it had babies (live young!) and my colony is safe.
They're best given as feeder when they've just molted and are still soft and white.
And yes, they hiss when disturbed.
