Azra'il
Purchased from Swift's Invertebrates in August, 2000, the first experience I had with my 2 inch-long purchase was him lunging from the tube he was packed in, scaring the bejeezus out of me. He has since amply demonstrated a mean streak a mile wide, going out of its way to bite anything he doesn't like. He was my first experience with a truly aggressive tarantula.
So have you ever seen a tarantula burrow? It's actually kind of cool. They gather a little pile of dirt and then pick it up with their fangs. They take the little lump of dirt a few inches away from the burrow and drop it. They spend about a minute rubbing the dirt off their fangs and then go back to the excavation site to resume their task. Azra'il is the only one of my tarantulas that still shows interest in burrowing now that it's bigger. Most of them quit, even if they were compulsive burrowers as spiderlings.
