Anansi
Aviculara seems to be one of the cooler tarantula genuses. Colorful, docile, and easy to care for. This is my first foray into Aviculara and arboreal tarantulas, and I'm really happy with it. I have to get more someday. I wish I got some pictures of Anansi when he was younger, because he went through some interesting color changes. He started out as bright orange before turning brown. From the picture, it should be obvious why they're called pinktoes.
Anansi is the the only tarantula that I'm not worried about biting me, because he is so darn tame. Still, he doesn't really like being held, so I'll rarely bother him for fear of injuring him. Since he's an arboreal, his toes really have a strong grip. You definitely feel it when he's walking on you.

July, 2003: Anansi died! It seems that he had lost a couple of legs in a recent molt and bled to death. I didn't even realize what had happened because he had hidden himself so deeply in his web. My girlfriend was VERY upset, since he was her favorite tarantula. He was a good one.
